Default Help! 8700g and Motorola H700

Please Login to Remove!

I must be doing something wrong. I have a Blackberry 8700g through T-Mobile. I purchased a Motorola H700 headset and can't get the thing working. I've charged the headset, and paired them. The Blackberry sees the H700, and the H700 is blinking blue indicating it's ready to go.

However, when I make a call, or receive a call, there's no audio on the headset. No ringing, no voices. I've tried adjusting the volume on the headset with no change.

The first time this series of events happened, I called Motorola tech support and they told me to return/exchange the headset. I did that, and am now having the same results with the second one.

Anyone know what's going on? I find it hard to believe that I have had two headsets that pair with the phone but don't have any audio... there's got to be a missing setup step somewhere.

I would try rebooting the BB. Delete the headset from the list of BT devices. Then remove the battery from the device while it's powered on. Then pair it and try it again. Remember, after you pair the headset for the first time you need to turn it off and then turn it back on again. If that still doesn't work, delete the headset again and upgrade the OS to the latest in the sticky thread at the top of the 8700 forum and do the pairing all over again.

Default Issue Resolved with Missing/New Instruction Step

I had the same problem with my new H700. It would look like the pairing was successful, the blue light on my 8700 would blink once, but would never connect.

I called Motorola Support and it looks like they have a fix (see step #3 below) in their troubleshooting database. Previous versions of the H700 did not require this extra step to pair, and it is not mentioned in the instructions I received.

1. Delete the H700 from your Bluetooth Devices list (if it's there)

2. Follow the steps to pair the device as printed on the instruction card.

3. After you receive the "success" message click the trackwheel and click "Connect"

4. Your H700 should now be successfully paired.

Hope this helps.
