Search your computer for a file called VENDOR.XML
And then delete it and rerun the application loader. I would also recommend actually reading the upgrade guide here because it looks like you didn't.

You didn't mention running Desktop Manager....I take it you're aware that when you install firmware, the file is bolted on to Desktop Manager, which then loads the code on to your device when you synchronise it - Application loader will prompt you for the update.

You get the upgraded firmware from your carrier. It's carrier specific.

1. Download handheld OS (which you've said you've done)
2. Execute the download handheld OS (which you've said you've done)
3. Start Desktop Manager
4. Start Application Loader
If it does not begin to update the BB, then you have NOT download and executed the right code.
I can not spell it out any easier.

Try going through the Application Loader on Desktop Manager. If it does not detect that you need to upgrade your firmware, either it didn't install, it's not the firmware for your particular handheld, or you already have that version of firmware. Out of curiosity, why is this urgent? Just wondering.

Sir,
I did the following
1. Download handheld OS (which you've said you've done)
2. Execute the download handheld OS (which you've said you've done)
3. Start Desktop Manager
4. Start Application Loader
After starting the application loader it asks me what applications i want to load or back up, do i need to click on " ADD " and load a file ?
I am really new to this, I want to upgrade to OS 4 and am trying it for the last 3 days, but with no luck

When i got to application loader, it does not ask me to upgrade the firmware, but simply asks me to load the application by click on ' ADD ".
Its urgent because, I need to enable TCP/IP stack, which is only possible after loading
OS 4.0, isnt it?

Not sure about the TCP/IP stuff. What type of BB do you have? What carrier do you have? What is your current firmware version? Where did you download your updated firmware? What is the air speed velocity of an African swallow?
