Default Does Bluetooth effect call quality?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
THis is my first post. I did try searching for an answer, but couldn't find one.

I have a new BB 8900, on the UK-Orange Network.

Becuase I live in a bad signal area, I have been making several calls to test it out.

Could this be my imagination - but would the bluetooth function effect call quality? Bluetooth is switched on, but it isn't paired to anything, because my headset is on charge.

The people I called experienced dropout. But when I turned off Bluetooth, it seemed to improve.

Has anyone else noticed this?

If Bluetooth effects call quality I can live with that - but would like to know.

Perhaps the BT is constantly on the search for a device?

I would appreciate hearing from people who have had the same issue. No disrespect - but please, do not guess - please only reply if you have noticed this too

THANKS!!!!

I need to know while I am in the 14 day return period...

Actually, I had a similar problem today. I had just turned on BT when I got a call and the sound was somewhat distorted. I turned off BT, called the other person back and everything was fine again. So I have to conclude that BT does affect call quality. (btw I use a BB 8110)

Thanks Lizzie!
It's really odd isn't it?
I can only guess that making a call, connecting to wifi AND trying to find a bluetooth device was too much for the little fellow

If I remain connected to wifi while making a phonecall, it seems fine. Making a call while using BT might be OK, if it is conected to a BT device. I have a hunch that the BB searchs for a device every few seconds - and that the process effected the calls.

I ALWAYS have BT turned on...but not always paired with my headset...I have never had any problems with call quality. Not even enough to try using the phone with BT turned off. The only issues I have had with BT is that it used to interfere with my Wifi calling when I had my router on a different channel. Once I changed that, everything has been fine.
