My BES provider states, that they run all the latest BES MRs and patches, but the problem still persists.

Then I am out of ideas, going from 4.1 SP5 to 4.1 SP6 MR2 definitely solved the problem for us. If they are really on the latest patches (ask them on which patch level they are), they should probably call RIM support.

My BES provider (MailStreet) is running SP6, but no Maintenance Releases. They claim they are testing SP7 or BES 5.0 (I'm a bit unclear on if those are the same thing, but it doesn't matter), and are not planning to install the between-service-pack maintenance releases. And it will be 4 to 6 months before they install SP7 or BES 5.0 or whatever it's called. Argh.
