Wirelessly posted (8820)

Coincidence?

You've tried a hard reset?

Unlocking will not affect WiFi. Period.

You can try accessing the escreen and see if UMA can be added. Use this guide:

Use Any UMA Enabled BlackBerry On T-Mobile U.S. | BlackBerryNews.com

You need code generated-PM me and I can send link.

on a similar note...
I recently bought a used Javelin. The previous owner claims it was unlocked. Couple of questions about 'unlocked' phones:

1. how can you tell if a phone is unlocked?
2. if I take the phone to the U.S., and turn the data roaming 'off' or data 'off only when roaming', will the phone still use data bandwidth on another carrier if I travel?

So far love the Javelin. Started with an 8700, then a curve, now the 8900. Beautiful piece of technology.

1 - Check out BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ - there is a link on how to check if your BB is really unlocked.

Default interesting

I am not sure why there was a need to unlock the blackberry in order to leave the country unless you were going to use another company's Sim Card. I went over to the UK and France (London,Scotland, and Paris) and was able to use my phone with no problems over there.

Sometimes you want/need a local number. Easiest way to do that is get a pre-paid SIM card.
