Desktop AIM and Ramble utilize different AOL servers. Ask your administrator to make sure MDS has access to toc.oscar.aol.com:1290.

If I'm going through Cingular, they need to provide access? Can I use login instead of toc?

Cingular provides your wireless service, but your organization provides your internet access through its MDS, so ultimately your requests go through your corporate firewall.

You can't use login unfortunately, TOC is a text-based protocol that Ramble utilizes. It is a separate technology from desktop AIM, and therefore has its own server.

Thanks for your help. Is this true even though my TCP settings are:

APN: wap.cingular
Username: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1

Verichat must use a different server.

Default 7100t - Will not log in

Just keeps saying "Logging In. Please Wait." I have read the entire thread and nothing seems on point. Any suggestions?

Did you try the steps that impdust laid out on the previous page to get him running on his 7100t?

Keith, have you verified that your corporate server is blocking toc.oscar.aol.com? Can you ask your network administrator to open the firewall for that host?

Also, I have no problem with Pocket Day (including weather feature) or other programs.

1) Go to http://wireless.sra.com/ramble/
2) Click on download
3) Accept the agreement, enter your email address, and click "Submit"
4) Stare at the ceiling for awhile
5) Check your email and you should have the link to the over-the-air download
6) Get that link
7) Download the application
8) Don't bother to run it when it's done downloading. It probably won't work.
9) Go into Tools -> Settings -> TCP
10) Set the APN to wap.voicestream.com
11) Set the Username to your T-Mobile username (probably your phone number)
12) Set the password to you T-Mobile password (same username and password you use to login to http://www.t-mobile.com )
13) Save it
14) Go into Tools -> Settings -> SRA Ramble
15) Make sure "Netowrk Connection:" is set to "Device Default"
16) Save it
17) Go into Applications -> Ramble IM
18) Enter your AOL Login
19) Enter your password
20) Check Auto-Login if you want
21) Click on "Submit"
22) If you get an error try and login a couple more times, if not then pat your self on the back you're logged in
23) If it still doesn't work then open up your browser and go to a web page. I prefer google, but it doesn't matter. Once the page opens switch back over and try to login again. Don't ask me why it works, but it does.

Long winded but it's real simple. Setup the APN, even if you never needed it before, then run Ramble.

wow! that worked thanks

Had to reboot to get mine to work, also signal had to be strong for the first log on to work. I just kept hitting until it let me in.

Default IChat issues

I can't seem to log in with or message users who have Ichat aim addresses. Any fix.

Also it would be nice if I could have a list of chat bookmarks or have it remember the last one I was in.

Great product, thanks

So far working great on my BB7250! Well worth the wait! Does the Ramble team have any plans on setting up a PayPal account to allow those interested to donate to the cause?

We don't have any plans to setup a PayPal account. As part of a larger company (SRA International, Inc., http://www.sra.com), the software is offered as a community service as well as a chance for the Wireless Integration Services group to offer up some its wares.

I appear to be able to access the site from the BB Browser today. My support people say it's just an "unsupported site" but there is no site blocking going on. When I access through the browser I get the following:

AOL Quick Buddy
Sorry, you must either be using an old browser that doesn't support Java, or you have java support turned off. You must be running at least Netscape 3.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0. Newer versions of Netscape and IE will work also. If you are running new versions of Netscape or IE, and the applet still doesn't show up, making sure you have Java turned on.

Ramble Team -

Are there any benchmarks to gauge against concerning battery usage when running this software? I ask because my BB seems to be using battery at a faster rate today since I've been running the program.

Does anyone else have any feedback?
