Unhappy Error message

After waiting breathlessly, I just installed the new edition, but when I tried to logg on, I got a message:
"Error logging in: Could not find a service book entry for IPPP."
I tried rebooting the BB, and then deleting the program and re-installing it, but same result. My service provider is Verizon. Help????????

I forgot to mention, in order to enable Direct TCP connection from your BlackBerry, open Options -> SRA Ramble, and set Network Connection to 'Use Device TCP'.

I'll update the FAQ according.

Huh? In Options, the sections are ""In Holster", "Out of Holster", "Global Dialog on IM Receipt" - and "TOC Host & Port" I don't see "Network Connection".
Sorry for being such a moron . . .

In an attempt to organize all the Ramble ramblings, we've created a thread to track release information, bugs and other general info. Feel free to move your conversations there, or continue in existing threads.

That thread will be kept updated as to the status of Ramble.

Sounds like you must not have the updated client. Client version should be 0.9.5.3. Once logged in, select 'About Ramble'. If it doesn't show a version, you're not using the right one.

When I try to log in it says:

"The Application Ramble has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy"

Now given I switched from using MDS to Device TCP, I am a little surprised. Does that mean Cingular (ATT) is blocking this?

No, this is RIM's security feature. I had this on another application and RIM basically is the one blocking it. Bad news....if you've already had it working with MDS and TCP is giving the error you're out of luck. You'll have to use MDS from now on....unless you want to completely wipe and reload the OS, not just the application. Uninstalling and reinstalling the application doesn't get rid of RIM's "knowledge" of the connection. Now, saying that I did come across one application that said you could just reinstall the app if this error appears. However, I was not that lucky. Try uninstalling/reinstalling but if that doesn't do it, you'll have to wipe the Berry.
Workaround....set the IT policy on your BES server (if you're the BES admin) to allow both inside and outside connections.

Can't connect from an Alltel 7250, BES 4.0 + MDS. Tried using MDS and device under SRA options. I can connect to toc.oscar.aol.com directly from the device using the internet browser. Got a bad DNS error, so went into SRA configuration, resolved toc.oscar.aol.com on my desktop, and tried it by IP address.

Now I get "Invalid Connection String: Unable to open connection"

Any recommendations? IP address shows up publically from RIM's address space (NetRange: 216.9.240.0 - 216.9.255.255), with BES 3.5 it would get NAT'ed out a firewall here, and show up in our address space.

Looks like they might be blocking the port? Any recommendations?

Ok, I disabled about every single security measure on my Blackberry 8830. Just got it about 5 days ago and I have tried several ports on the settings. It still says "Connecting, Please Wait" forever... Any help here?
**EDIT** Ok I think I found the problem, but... I need the correct port for a Verizon 8830 Blackberry and I'll be fine =]
