can you post a quick writeup on what info is needed for all the fields? what needs to go into the APN if i want this to work over 3G? is the username supposed to be sip:username@voipservice.com or just the username itself?

thanks

BlackVoib setup

Display Name, User Name, Password and Domain are all required.

Register with domain can be checked if you wish to receive phone calls.

Outbound Proxy is optional. If it is blank, it would be the same as the domain IP address.

WIFI. When is checked, BlackVoib uses WIFI to connect to server. Other OTA is used.

STUN Server. Optional, but needed for most setups. This field is only left blank only if your device is in the same subnet as your SIP server.

APN. It would usually work went left blank. However, sometimes you do have to specify the APN. I don't have all the carrier APNs. But for AT&T, the APN is wap.cingular. You can also find these info on the net by googling them.

This link has good info on APNs

Callcentric uses port 5080 instead of the default 5060. So the way to configure the domain is callcentric.com:5080

I have BB9700. Install the app and configured as instructed. However, I recieve an error IP address of Registrar cannot be resolved and IP address of Outbound proxy cannot be resolved. Any suggestions?

Need to know the setting and the service provider. It seem that there are a lot of providers are not using the default port 5060.

I am using AT&T. I tested my Wifi connection and I am able to ping the IP address.

If you are using WIFI, it really does not matter which carrier you use. We want to see which service provider you are using. There are many out there that have their own version of SIP. We target systems like Asterisk, pbxes.org and the like.

Default Voice Cheap

I just attempted setting up using Voice Cheap and received the exact same cannot resolve the IP of the Registrar. I would much prefer this to work on my local commerical VOIP provider. Other SIP apps work with them on Droids. Whatever you can do to help would be most appreciated.

I get the exact same errors about not resolving IP addresses. I've also tried inputting the IP address itself and the error is the same.

I'm trying to set up with Gizmo5 according to their instructions located on their page. Default port is 5060.

Unfortunately I can't post a link to them because I haven't created enough threads yet.

I tested with 3G and Wifi (at my office and at home), the result is :
- With 3G, the voice quality was quite good. No noise, no delay or very little.
- Wifi scenario : the voice was delayed quite much. I spoke several words and the other end must wait a little bit to hear my voice.

- In both scenarios, voice always went through speaker phone, not handset.
I am using Bold 9000.
Anyway, as I understand, this is the first SIP client for BB, congratulate.
Cheer!!!

Default Voip service provider

Please let us know what VOIP service provider you are using. What are the settings so that we may determine if our BB can get the IP resolved.

I think you need to put something in the domain.
