So is this update for East Asia customers only? Should I wait until Verizon has an update ready before I update our two Tours?

No. You can use it. See direction in first post about removing vendor.xml file

you say you downloaded it, but you dont say you INSTALLED it. it has to be installed after downloading.

Yeah you got it. After you download it, you double click it to run it. It will install to your PC. Then you delete the vendor file and run the apploader and it should do the rest. A backup before hand might not be a bad idea either.

Does it still say you are on .40? When you click the app loader program and the menu comes up with all of your OS information what does it say the action is for all the listings? Does it say none? If so it is not actually updating anything. When you go to the directory C:Programfiles>commonfiles>RIM>apploader does it list the .53 OS in there? If not delete the one you downloaded, restart your computer, do a battery pull. Then redownload the file and start process over.

Yes. Install to your PC. You may need to remove other OS variants that you may have installed to your PC.

Yeah that could be your problem to. Program could be getting confused. In that same folder under program files you can delete the .40 OS folder if its in there. The only one should be the .53

Another intervention is to bypass the DM and access the loader.exe file and perform the install with the internet connection on the PC turned off. Thats what I did with .42. The DM did all the work with .53 because it was official through my carrier (VZW)

Are you using the OEM usb cable that came with the phone? It sounds like you are getting a break in communication somewhere. Did you move the phone or the cable while updating? Does your computers USB have a bad connection? Is the USB cable secure on both connections phone and computer. Secure meaning tight.

Just for the heck of it. Go to options>advanced>wireless update. Check there and see if it will grab it ota instead of using DM.

Didn't think so. Ok yeah I would try the update again. Make sure the .53 OS is still in the C:ProgramFiles>CommonFiles>RIM>App Loader and the old OS is not. This time instead of clicking on the apploader.exe actually open the DM and go to the app loader and software update and try it that way. Same thing just different process.
