Default message icon

Please Login to Remove!

Once I have checked my voicemail, the new voicemail message icon (yellow envelope) does not automatically delete itself. On my old berry it use to do that. How do I change the option?

Also I bought a used curve without the box etc, how can I check if its the 8300/8310/8320 etc?

Options>about will tell you the model #, also the sticker under that Battery will. Usually the VM icon will disappear on its own, but sometimes it just doesn't. If you call and leave youself a new VM, then delete it, it should go away.

In terms of checking model #, I am actually not able to go into options>about, when I click on ABOUT, the little menu comes up and only gives CLOSE option.

For the VM icon, I have done that does not work. Just to clarify its not the little "cassette" icon but the yellow envelope icon.

that isn't a voicemail, but an email or sms/mms message, check you messages folder.

As far at the About screen, sounds like VAD was removed. Remove the battery and check on the sticker. Or, does it have GPS (8310), WiFi (8320) or neither (8300)?

On my other berries once I checked my voicemail, it would automatically delete both the little cassette & yelllow icon(which is telling my I have 1 voicemail..etc)

what is VAD?

Voice Activated Dialing. I know with Verizon, on top of getting the VM icon, I also get a text message from Verizon saying I have a new message, and this I have to go in and delete, even after I listen to the message. Maybe Rogers does something similar?

Try doing this to delete the Icon
1. open messages folder
2. Press menu key
3. Press View Folder
4. Check folder by folder

I am pretty sure you might have a message in one of those folders and once you delete it your problem might be over.
By the way once you click on one of the folders, if it is empty you dont have to go back to step one to check the next folder, just Press menu again and the View folder and check the next. let us know if it worked, it did for me!

I am afraid either I am not clear explaining the issue or it is misunderstood. when I receive a voicemail message, once I have checked/deleted the voicemail, on my other berries, it would automatically delete the sms message(that states I have a voicemail message). With the curve I have to manually delete the sms message.

On both my Pearl and Curve I have to go and manually delete the SMS...just seems to be one of those things.

I just posted this in the OS thread. I'm on rogers and when I upgraded to the new OS for the 8300 I got the same problem. I can't get the text message to go automatically like it did before.....I will keep searching for a fix...

I was wondering if anyone found a fix for this. I upgraded last week to 4.5.0.81 (from 4.2) and I have the same problem (the voicemail text will not delete itself). I just spoke with Rogers and i cleared my message and sms databases but still no luck. I didn't think it was tied to the new OS but after reading this last post, I wonder if it is. Rogers wanted me to wipe the device but I wasn't prepared to do that just yet. If there is an update I would appreciate it.

I have a 8300.

Thanks
Adam

I have had this same issue for a while now. Personally, I don't see why one would need BOTH a text and voicemail indicator telling you there is a voicemail message.

I had a curve for over a year, and the only time the yellow envelope went away, is if I made my own theme, and left if out of the app... otherwise, I think it's always there, and the number is the only thing that changes or goes away, if the messages are checked. The little cassette did go away, though, when the voice messages were opened...
