I have tried several test messages and don't seem to be able to get push email. I have tried with POP enabled and disabled. Right now, I'm on 11 minutes. I had already deleted gmail from BIS and reestablished. Any other suggestions or might this just be a network slowdown?

Under the old method, your gmail account would be polled every 15 or so minutes and mail would be retrieved. If you deleted mail on your BB, it would not be deleted on your gmail account.

The recent development, on Verizon at least, is that email is delivered almost immediately, and mail deleted on your BB is also deleted on your gmail account. Mail sent from your BB ends up on your gmail sent folder withough having to resort to special filters. This is similar to the way that Yahoo works, and it is an improvement.

If i setup Gmail on my BB to have POP access, would I still be able to download all my emails in Outlook when i get home? I know with my old PocketPC phone, if I downloaded the message to my handheld device, it would not download on Outlook. It appeared as if gmail knew that message was already downloaded via POP. I just want to make sure that if I use POP for my BB, I will still get all the messages via Outlook

well, that sounds great, but I am on Verizon and this does not work for me..I can't delete emails from the handheld and have them deleted in my google box, I can't see sent emails in my google box and I can't get instant email...

Any ideas? Is there a certain way to configure it? Is the basic pop setup method the way to go?

If your on Verizon BIS 2.0 (2.1) it now integrates with Gmail. In your BIS login, delete your gmail account. In Gmail, be sure POP is enabled. Recreate your gmail account in the BIS. I did that today and I now have real-time email delivery and wireless reconcilation. Apparently BIS 2.1 was installed on Saturday. No need to forward gmail to your blackberry anymore!

The push email works great, but now I get copies of every email I send from my BB sent right back to my BB almost as soon as I have sent it off. Kinda annoying.

Create a filter in BIS to not forward any message that is from your email address. I had this problem too and went around in circles trying crazy setups people were suggesting.

It only takes the one step and the problem will be fixed.
How exactly do I go about doing this? I don't see a filter option to not forward mail, only to forward it. Sorry for the stupid question....

what about setting it up on the BIS account itself? create a filter so if email arrives from your Gmail address to not send it to you handheld

this would fix your issue

I get real-time push, but if I delete off my BB (using Delete on Mailbox & Handheld) its still in my Gmail. Does that part take a few minutes?

EDIT: Never mind. Reconcile Now handles the problem just fine.

That seems to have worked! Wish I would have thought to try that myself!

Do you have filters in Gmail set to copy messages? With BIS 2.1 gmail no longer requires BCC.

Mine still polls every 10 or so, but I've been able to delete from the bb for a month or so. Cingular plan here.

I am on Cingular. I had my Gmail set up to forward to my BB. And after reading here that 2.1 was available for some carriers I decided to set up the Gmail account via BIS yesterday and remove the forward. I now receive any messages sent to the Gmail account instantly.

I found a neat feature I was not aware about.....I had set up filters of a certain email addresses that I receive on a daily basis to "skip the inbox and delete". I did not receive these emails this morning so I went to the trash in Gmail and moved them to the inbox, a few minutes later they showed up as new messages on my BB. Pretty cool.

I also do not have the other icons that are available with the 2.1 upgrade.

Ok,I figured it out...It works great when I use my &&&@gmail.com acct, however, when I use my Domain, hosted through GMAIL, it does not work...At least not yet...They are both on the same servers...so I wonder why it does not work...

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

So everything works great as far as gmail is concerned, but I don't have any new icons.
