Default Nextel BB7520 & Moto HS850

Well, just picked up this headset and works well, no echo, no disconnects of the pairing, but the volume is low..

I really cant use the headset while driving or in a noisy area as i would not be able to hear the other party. I have to use it like in a quiet (by my desk, at home) area ..

i adjusted the volume as high as it can go, dont know what else to try.. got the item directly from Nextel..

any suggestions? or did i miss a trick or config step on the BB for the unit to have a nice volume boost?

I had the same problem until I downloaded the new software. It fix it right away. It improved the volume on boths sides. Give it a try if you already haven't. I'm not sure of the version of the software, but it is on the site somewhere....

These work great together with the newest BB software . I also had to go to Bluetooth devices and go to properties, and disable encryption. It seems with encryption enabled, I still got an echo.

Although I know this is my first post, if you check the stats for the Motorola HS 850 headset, it expressly says on Nextel's website, "Not Recommended for the Blackberry 7520." The reason is that the pairing of the device works about ten percent of the time, and as our friend here has seen, has poor volume/connectivity issues with the blackberry. I would suggest the HS820...in my experience they pair essentially every time providing the user actually does the correct steps:

options>bluetooth>enable bluetooth>add device>select the Motorola HS820>type in 0000 as the password.

Don't know WHY it never seems to work right, but that's just what I've seen.

Serophis,

thanks for the help and the comments. As i said, i havent had any problems that you suggested.. and never call or listen to Nextel. If i would have listened to Nextel in the 9 years of service ive had with them, id be with another carrier by now.

So moving forward. I never had a disconnect problem (i think i said that), havent disconnected a single time as of current. I never had an echo problem either. My problem was just volume which was corrected on the software upgrade recently.

The battery problem which i thought i had was really something else, i felt silly afterward. The beeps were to notify me that i had no service, not that the battery power was low.

So as a the experience rolls out; it was a problem, but is no more as a result of the software upgrade.

All is good in BerryLand

I've had my 7520 and HS850 since march/april of this year and other than the volume issue it's worked like a charm. The only other issue it had was that you couldn't redial the last number you called from the headset if the BB was holstered. The latest software update fixed that and the volume problem though so all is good.

I must be the only guy on the planet who didn't notice the volume issue, and my hearing generally sucks.

What ver. of the software fixed the problem?

My HS850 is pairing 100% of the time with my 7520. I'm running the latest BB software.
