Default Some (hopefully) simple questions....

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, just upgraded to a 9700 on Orange in the UK and have noticed some strange differences between that and my old Bold 9000. I have searched but cannot find the answers so any help would be much appreciated.

1. SMS folder defaults to Sent Items when I go to it. I have to view folder, SMS Inbox to get it to the view I expect

2. Hidden folders on the memory card appear hidden until the first time you play a movie from within it. Then after that, the file name shows up in the list despite the folder being hidden again

3. Firmware on the phone is 5.0.0.351 (5.1.0.98) and I'm fine with updating. However, I can't figure out if the version showing as the latest on the forum is actually later or not. It's showing as 5.0.0.726 (5.0.0.442) of which the first bit is later, the second bit isn't (sorry if that's a very noob question)

4. I'm struggling to get any kind of weather app working properly. I've tried Weatherbug which doesn't update unless wifi is switched on. BEWeather looks awesome but again, only seems to update if I do it manually!

5. Lastly, what settings are optimal for encoding video onto it? Any settings I choose, i seem to get the occasional audio stuttering and I've got to then restart the video, fast forward to the point I was at then it seems OK.

Sorry if any of these questions seem simplistic, I'm trying to figure out quite quickly if I've got a dud phone which I may need to replace.

Thanks

1) SMS is now threaded, it should look like BBM or an Instant Messenger Chat.

3) 5.0.0.442 is the most recent.

5) What video and audio formats are supported?? - BlackBerryFAQ

[QUOTE=jsconyers;1570131]1) SMS is now threaded, it should look like BBM or an Instant Messenger Chat.

When I open the SMS and MMS icon, I don't see a threaded or chat type view, all I see is the sent items. However, when I sms someone from the phone list, i do see the view you're talking about.

Could you take a screen shot of what you see? You can use CaptureIT or JL_Cmder to take a screen shot of your device.

BeWeather has a setting in the options menu for how often to update. I have The Weather Channel Mobile and while it's not the most visually entertaining it does have a good amount of features and it is free.
