Notes and Mime Attachment

Here's our problem:
Two companies merging. 1 is an Exchange environment, the other a Notes environment. Both have BES servers. The exchange environment and BES servers seem to have no problems with receiving email.
We are seeing problems when the exchange environment sends messages to the Notes environment and that user has a blackberry on the Notes BES. The user get's this error message.

Subject: BlackBerry Service Message
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server was unable to process a message. You can still view this message in your desktop email program. Your system administrator has been notified.
Usually the email is accompanied by a MIME attachment. We need to figure out why the user cannot get the email on their blackberry, but can in NOTES. The Notes server is version 4.0.2.4.
PLEASE HELP!!!!
