Like seemingly lots of folks, I find the Bold's built-in voice dialing to be pretty inaccurate even under ideal noise conditions. Is it the sort of application that learns your voice/contacts and gets better over time, or is this as good as it's going to get?

And are there any other alternatives besides vlingo?

Nuance, the maker of the VAD app for BlackBerry, is pretty much the best company out there. We use it for our Cisco VoIP Call Center. Mine has gotten better since I first bought the device, so I would say keep going with it and see how it does.

I agree. It seems to get better over time. I guess it "learns" your voice.

There aren't any on-device alternatives that I'm aware of. There are a number of other network based services like Vlingo, though I can't recall the names at the moment.

AT&T offers voicedial, but it's a monthly fee and requires that you upload your address book; dunno if Rogers offers something similar.
It's ok; I use it primarily because the Bluetooth in my car won't activate the voicedial application (no, I don't know why and it irritates me).
