There aren't any on-device alternatives that I'm aware of. There are a number of other network based services like Vlingo, though I can't recall the names at the moment.
AT&T offers voicedial, but it's a monthly fee and requires that you upload your address book; dunno if Rogers offers something similar.
It's ok; I use it primarily because the Bluetooth in my car won't activate the voicedial application (no, I don't know why and it irritates me).
