Default Unfixable White Screen of Death

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

I own a BlackBerry Curve 8310 from AT&T Wireless. I purchased it last night from a friend of mine.

Immediately after I bought it, I updated the software to version 4.5. The first attempt to load version 4.5 failed (I guess the cable lost contact with the phone or something), but the second attempt was successful.

I used the phone for most of today and it worked OK, with the exception of several instances of the infamous white screen of death. At the suggestion of some members of another forum, I did a forced reload of the software (using application loader) in an effort to remedy the occasional white screen of death.

Unfortunately, after I tried loading the software again, now I get the white screen of death all of the time. The device simply won't boot. I've followed the "nuked blackberry revival" instructions on crackberry.com and I haven't had any luck. I've also tried running the JL Cmder app and the command line alternative, neither of which are working. In fact, the JL Cmder app won't connect to the device.

I've tried different USB ports and different cables without any improvement.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

install desktop manager 4.7
remove your media card if you have one
plug into a back USB slot
start - run - cmd
type: cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
type: loader.exe /resettofactory
reboot if it didnt do it on its own

hopefully you already have a backup... dont restore it till you have tested for awhile
dont put you media card in for awhile untill you ahve tested for awhile

if its working fine for awhile, you can then restore your backup and test for awhile and then put in media card and test for awhile... incase your media card or your alterations(backup) are causing the problem

Hmm, thanks.

Anyway, I tried loading it using the app loader last night for the last time and it didn't work, so I left it on and went to bed.

When I woke up this morning, it was working again. It's a mystery.
