Default Try the input from my tips

There seems to be confusing info on Cingular Orange out there. The settings you posted were posted as working in the another thread.

Make sure you have the correct spacing for these items.

Mine is still working fine...

I am able to use all TCP/IP apps on my BB and am able to browse on my laptop at speeds measured up to 117 kbps.

What errors is it giving you?

I just set it up on another computer to make sure it is still working..

First make sure you have the proper connection string in the modem properties.
Second Make sure the dialup connection is set to dial: *99#
Username should be: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1
(Note: I think both of these are case sensitive.)

Let me know if you have all thoes set up right.

On a side note, i am getting better speeds at home that i was at work... Over the teathered BB connection dslreports.com registered a 197 dl and 45 up speed... pretty good i think!

In that case you may want to try completely removing all traces of rim software from your system (see their KB for details)

I mean everything... the dial up, the modem, the COM port, folders registry values.

Then install the latest 4.1 version and try again... this is one of the things i had to do on my system that used to have previous versions of BB desktop on it..

I went to the RIM KB and followed thier instructions for a clean uninstall which had about 6 steps and included deleting registries. I reinstalled Desktop Manager v. 4.1 and set up everything per darkhorse's post above. STILL DOES NOT WORK. I can query with no problem. Any other suggestions from anyone.

Here is the exact error message I am receiving:

TCP/IP CP reported error 736: The remote computer terminated the control protocol

Again, I appreciate any assistance.

Yes, that's the correct place on the phone.

When I do the modem tethering, I also use the username and password in the dial-up connection box on my laptop.

The initialization string goes into the control panel -> Phone and Modem -> modems -> properties -> advanced -> extra initialization commands.

Finally, one thing I haven't seen mentioned here is to turn off all compression, flow control, etc... do this by right-clicking the modem icon under network and dialup connections, then properties -> general -> configure and make sure all 3 boxes under "Hardware features" are NOT checked.

Another thread on this site mentioned the compression issue so I had that and all the other boxes unchecked. I have checked and re-checked all of my setting multiple times. Thanks for the ideas.
