Thumbs down I've given up on T-Mo MMS

I've tried enabling the firewall and it only made my Guitar Hero not work. properly since it wouldn't allow a network connection.

I've always had the auto retrieval set to "always/always".

I've also always had the browser push settings checked.

I've done the alt lglg and set the logs to stay empty.

My memory and coverage are fine.

The pics I send are small and email attachments work perfectly.

And my MMS config is already 2.0.

Finally, when my MMS pics can't be retrieved, I send myself at least three MMS pic messages. It doesn't always work, and sometimes the messages I send to myself come back with the red "X" even though I'm sitting in my house where I have decent coverage. But the issue happens everywhere, not just at home.

I always have to ask the sender to please re-send and SOMETIMES the picture will show up.

So, I've given up on MMS entirely and ask people to email photos but if someone doesn't have a phone with internet, it's a pain for them.

Oh well.

the go out into the HRT and register now

go back into service books you should now have mms config 2.0

all will work now

this only works for os v4.2 anything above will have issues with mms over uma

Should we have the firewall enabled for security purposes??? Do we have to worry about viruses, etc., on a blackberry???

On both my 8100 and 8320 I've never had any issues with sending or receiving MMS and my firewall is always disabled.

MMS retrieval problems could also be due to your company's BB Server.

If you have a BB given to you by the company, the company will have a BB server and will have an Administrator for that server. I was told that some Admin's disable this function on the corporate BB server, so that you don't get any crap on your BB ( which is actually the company's )...safeguarding company's assets, if you may...

Does this make sense..?

I didn't see any posts by you in this thread detailing a problem. Perhaps if you posted more information about the issue you're seeing someone here could help you.

hello Dave, im a t-mobile 8320 user with the 4.5.0.52 OS.

%70 of the time i cant "retrieve data" even if its 1kb.

i tried turning firewall on off. pulling batt and restarting, removing sevice books, browser push settings... am i missing anything?

the tmo tech wanted me to do a system reboot or restart or reload or whatever it is that redoes everything, but i wasnt really down with that.

any help will be appreciated, Thanks!

I got sms working but now I can't get mms to work. I just deleted the mms service books, resent from the HRT and pulled the battery. We'll see if this works.

Default cannot receive MMS, but can send MMS

First of all I DO NOT use BES and am only using BIS on the Verizon Network.
Using Desktop version 4.3.0.17 Nov '07
Device Software 4.3.0.97 Platform 3.1.0.51 for Blackberry Smartphone 8130

Problem Description and what I have attemped so far...:
I can send myself and others MMS (text with pic attached)
I can send myself an MMS and receive just fine x 3 times with diff pics. (this did not solve my issue by sending myself 3 MMS as previously described and "reset" my MMS)
I receive all email, SMS, phone calls, voicemail, and IM with no problems.
I cannot receive MMS from other users(even when I KNOW the filesize is fine) or from verizon bb tech support.
I have done various battery pulls x 30 seconds.
I have done 3 Hard resets...typing "blackberry" and wiping the blackberry clean with 2 Verizon bb tech support persons.
I made sure the ALWAYS is "on" for multimedia reception, Automatic retrieval, allow delivery confirmation and confirm delivery.
firewall is "off", but I did try with on, and this did not make a difference.
Verizon BB support tried to resend service books after hard resets several times to "reset" or force the MMS to start working again, no luck.
Also, cleared the "cache" of browser settings completely, because, the reps say this is a common problem with the 8130 when browsing and MMS do not work.

So, finally after a good 2-3 phone calls and spending over 2 hours on the phone....Verizon is sending me a replacement phone (under warranty) and we will see if after "restoring" my data the phone will work properly with MMS.

Now, my theory is to have the tech support send me a MMS after activating the phone...to make sure it is working.
Then, "restore" my old settings from the backup file.
Then, test have them send me an MMS again just to be sure it is still working.
Verizon is claiming that it is possible that it is a defective unit and the MMS should be working. But if this is NOT the case...they want to put a support engineer with me if the replacement phone is still receiving MMS. So, if the MMS works BEFORE I reload my backup, then it could be network related. If the MMS does not work AFTER I reload my backup...it could be my settings.
Sound correct?

I had an 8100 with working mms, unlocked 8300 on tmo with working mms, unlocked 8310 with working mms. I remember I had the problem at first with the 8100. I did a wipe and ever since then I never had the problem and with the other phones Ive never had a problem.

Wirelessly posted

This happens to me too occasionally (8310,At&t) but for me a battery pull usually works..
My problem would be that 50% of the time, friends on verizon & tmob either don't get my mms or get them hours later, and/or I receive sms texts delayed by hours and/or they receive my texts much later after I had sent them..I'm hoping it's an isuue with at&t not playing nice with other networks because I know I've kept the filesize on the mms' <300kb..and friends on at&t get my messages like normal..although I've only heard of this problem on BB's..

OK. I see militia and coldconfession13 replied...
In response to coldconfession13 & militia...
1. I have a Verizon phone which I assume I should not go messing around and trying to "unlock". (I would think this would void most all my warranties/terms of service)
2. Also, battery pulls/wipes did not solve this issue.

How do these address my issue(s)? Can you be more specific?

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Curve 8310 (AT&T))

I was just sharing my experience..turning radio off and on also solves it for me sometimes..
It might be a device and/or model specific prob but I'm no expert..

Default not able to receive MMS, able to send

I had the unit replaced. The replacement bb pearl 8130 works fine. I tried to send/receive MMS on this unit and MMS works great. Then, I loaded my settings and everything else works fine as well after restoring.
So, in this instance I believe it was a defective unit.
Still under warranty, Verizon sent me a new unit at no charge and I bought this unit back in February '08.

I had the "Enable Push" checked but didn't have the "Enable Wap Push" checked. Once I check the box next to "Enable Wap Push".....what do know, I am now able to rec'v MMS.

Sorry if you already now this.
I did this....I already had both Enabled but I disabled and then enabled and then it worked! Thanks!!!

Default Fix

Go to Options, Advanced Options, Service Book. Find the MMS Client Service Book. Select it and click delete. Click the menu key in and click undelete. you should now be able to retrieve the messages.
