Default uploading photos from Curve to desktop computer

Please Login to Remove!

How do I upload a photo from my Blackberry to my computer? I've connected my Blackberry to my computer and clicked on Media Manager in the Desktop Manager. Under My Devices, it says "There is no device connected. Please connect your device in order to view its contents." There is also a window which says "Blackberry not ready. Please activate Mass Storage Mode on your device."

I'm new to Blackberry, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done it before, but had to refer to the manual every time. An easy way to do it is to simply email it to yourself from the application.

Thanks Vongillern, guess I need to get my email set up first! I'm trying to use the redirector and cannot get it started. Maybe that's a question for another thread.

Do you have a microSD card in your Curve? If so then (though this should work anyway):

Go to Options > Media Card >Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected then make sure it's set to On

Then when you plug in the BB you will be able to view the contents of the Media Card (or your phone) like you would any other memory card (or mass storage device).

Good luck.

I also upload photos to photobucket if I don't feel like plugging in my BB or am not near a computer.

Thank you quillhill ! I found out that I have no media card! However I did finally get the photo copied to my hard drive by using the "copy up" feature in Blackberry Desktop Manager/Media Manager.

How expensive is a media card?

depends on the size you get and where you get it from. you can try newegg.com and amazon they usually have good deals. I got a 2gig card for $14+ shipping.

you can also send photos to your machine using bluetooth.

Another easy way is to have the following installed on your device and then download from their website:

Just plug the blackberry in via the USB cable. The blackberry screen will (assuming the keyboard's not locked) ask if you want to be in Mass Storage Mode. Answer Yes. You'll then see the blackberry storage as a removable drive. Then just copy 'em off. Works in Windows, works in Linux.

If you've previously told the device not to go into Mass Storage Mode (and never ask you again), then you'll need to remove that by going into the settings menu, media card, and set "Auto Enable Mass Storage" to "Prompt".
