I would hope we can bump the timing up to several minutes at least. I know on my old Razr I was able to hack in and change a setting that allowed it to record until the memory was full.

So ...I may have missed it, but when should we expect 4.3? I think I read it should be out in December. Is that right?

Video will be nice, I miss that from my other smartphones (Dash, and TMO MDA) but I have noticed that a lot of the alternative themes that people put out, will there be a video icon? Some of the newer themes that I have seen didnt have a UMA icon.

I remember on my DashI was able to hack in a change the MMS settings to allow for 600kb sending capacity vice the preset 300kb by tmo, wonder how big a video will be able to be sent with this new video capability.

Video recording would be nice, but I am more interested in the next release solving the UMA/Bluetooth problem.

The 4.3 OS update will let us send the recordings by e-mail, but probably in AMR format only, which is very inconvenient. I've sent test voice messages to a few friends who have Windows in their computers and about half of them could not play it. I told them they had to let Media Player download some codec (what the other half did), but they still couldn't get it to work for some reason. And as a Linux user, I still haven't been able to play AMR files on my system at all.
You seem to be unhappy about everything!

I will take the video feature AND the voice recorder. I am not crazy about the 3rd party recorder!

Not true. I love the Blackberry, I love the e-mail service, I love Auto Text and key shortcuts. I also love VR+, Freerange, Radar.net, Google Maps, World Mate and Asteroid Jane.

Any news on a release date? Video would be great, as will a voice memo.

Some have said by the end of the year. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it was early in 2008.

i agree with luc-mobile. video recording wont that useful. come on, when are you gonna use this feature except for holidays, vacation, and special event?

rim should concentrate enhancing current feature. like more shortcut keys. page up with one key instead of sym+spacebar. assign a key to send an email etc. fix existing problems such as msn mobile website on the curve, espn auto refresh problem etc. supporting 6 GB media card or higher capacity media card in the future.

instead of the video recording...im more interested in the streaming audio. would be great to know which radio web station u can listen on my curve now.

I think you would use it as often as you take pics. And for me, having young kids who are in sports, I am constantly taking pics and sending them to family. I'd love to have the option to do the same with video. I mean, I could do video on my cheap Nokia phone for cryin out loud...

Yeah but could your cheap nokia do half of the other things BB's can? I think not :P.

I also have kids and when I want to pics or video of them especially at sporting events I usually opt for something of higher quality than a cell phone or Blackberry :D
On the fly for the hell of it pics or video maybe.

Whoa. Holidays, vacation, and special events is quite a lot of situations actually. My point is that at 240x180 the quality is so low that we're unlikely to really feel like keeping those videos around for more than a couple of hours. Do you guys realize what 240x180 looks like? It's tiny! And if you enlarge it, it looks awful. It's nothing like the quite reasonably good 1600x1200 still pictures that the Curves can take.

If you have kids and/or want to keep precious moments, then you had better have a real camera handy at all times. Or a Nokia N95 at the very least. Video in the current Blackberrys is not a realistic expectation, as with most telephones.

Hey, I'm not diss'n the BB...love mine too much.

But no, I don't generally carry a video cam to my kid's sporting events so having that feature on my BB would be convenient...to capture those spontaneous moments...you know, just for the hell of it

I would update just for the voice recorder and having a video recorder with you at all times would not huirt. If you only use it every once in a while it does not hurt. You never know when that UFO is going to land in the backyard!

Here's another example of when video will come in handy: on a business trip last year when I still had my Razr, my boss got pretty anebriated and was singing some kind of 70's disco/love song ...AND I CAUGHT IT ON VIDEO!!

So I'm all for having the ability to capture video! I used to always use my video on my Razr. I definitely can't wait to have that feature on my BB.
