Default Curve will not boot and red light is blinking

Please Login to Remove!

A user in my office brought me his Blackberry Curve because it was continuously rebooting. It would show the hour glass for a few seconds then reboot, over and over. I tried a few things I'd found via Google, but nothing was working. as a last ditch effort I attempted to Nuke it via Blackberry Manager. After that the red led now blinks twice, blinks twice more then stays off for about 10 seconds, then repeats. Did I just kill this thing?

What model Curve does he have?

It sounds like you need to reinstall the OS on the device. You can find the OS at the top of the 8300 forum.

it's the Tmobile Curve 8320. It dosn't even come close to booting (the screen never comes on) so when I plug it into the computer it is not recognized (dosn't even show up as being plugged in) thus I can't load the OS. Any way around that?

Download and install the OS for the 8320 to your PC and delete the vendor.xml file. Once you've done that, follow these steps:

I've already tried that. The problem here is that in the loader there is nothing listed under Connection and the option for Detect Communication Port is grayed out. Any other suggestions?

It may take multiple attempts before it actually makes a connection. I've seen some say it took them 20 times or so before it connected. Make sure you follow the steps to the letter.

ok, I've tried it about thirty times and still nothing. Though, I really didn't expect it to work as windows dosn't even recognize that it is being plugged in to the system.
I really need to find a way to get this thing to simply attempt to boot, then I think I'd be able to get the above steps to work. but with it just blinking the red led at me I'm thinking it is a lost cause.

you may also want to try to remove the battery before you connect the BB to the computer. I once had this problem, and RIM tech support suggested this method. PS: It worked perfectly, and I was able to reload the OS.
