Question BB 8100 headphone jack problem!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, i'm new with this BB, actually my first one so this is probably dumb from me, i recently upgraded it to the most recent OS, 4.5.etc, and my headphone jacks doesn't work right, i plug in my headphones and the phone asks me for a voice command, and when i turn the music on, the speakers sound, i clicked "activate headphones, but the volume just lowered, i couldn't find anything on the settings and i've used the headphones on other phones without any issue =( (2.5 mm). I want to know if there's anything i can do before taking it to repair

Note: I'm from Venezuela, sorry for my crappy english. (i'm 16, lol)

i saw something about it, i dont know if its 100% true (please someone correct this if not)
if you have the voice command app first you have to run the media (music, videos) without the headphones, then plug in the headphones and click "activate headphones".

by the way, whats the OS version on your phone?
what kind (brand) of headphones do you have?

I just bought a pair of OEM bb 8100 headphones on amazon and it works perfect (i removed the voice command app before i tray any headphones so i cant tell if the "myth" of the voice command is true).
I think there are just a few brands of headphones that actually works with the 2.5 mm blackberry jack.

Gab0x - are you using a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter for your headphones or do you have headset with a 2.5" plug?

As fiestito mentioned, there are issues with how the headphones are plugged into the 8100. If you are using an adapter, the adapter must be plugged into headphones prior to inserting in your 8100.

I'm using the adapter from 2.5 to 3.5m. I had the phone, went to media, clicked play, then i plugged the headphones (already connected to the adapater) and the volume went down as before, and the voice app poped up, on my settings the voice app its "always off" but it still appears! i'm on .102 (4.5) and it just wont work! =/ is there any way to delete the app? or is it the OS? =S

I have the exact same problem with my 8820 in 4.5.0.55. I have an adapter that was working fine in 4.2, but now in 4.5 it is refusing to work. I've tried plugging it in with the adapter already attached to the headphones, or with the adapter plugged into the blackberry first. Either way, Voice activated dialing pops up, and sound continues to only come from the speaker on the phone itself. I'm hoping there is a version of 4.5 that corrects this bug, and that it isn't something I'll have to downgrade to 4.2 to fix. 4.2 doesn't do streaming, and 4.5 doesn't do headphones...argh.

I had exactly the same problem and it was down to the adapter. I bought his one
BlackBerry Stereo Adapter 2.5mm to 3.5mm for 8830, 8820, 8800, 8703e, Pearl 8100 - ShopCrackBerry
and it works fine now, in stereo too!

That is the exact same adapter that isn't working for me.

It was working before with OS 4.2, it worked great every day until I upgraded to 4.5.0.55, then it stopped working completely. I think it is a bug with the OS, not a problem with the adapter or the phone itself.

A little update. I stopped by the Verizon store on my way home and picked up the adapter they offer (with a mic and volume control!) and it worked like a charm. Now my only concern is that I'll scare AT&T with all of my data usage from listening to Flycast all day!
