Well I was wondering if the default setting would make a difference. I thought it might flag the message so it would not get deleted but it does sound like something else is going on.

Today my Call Log was wiped out for no reason. Is this caused from the so-called memory leak? If so, what can I do in the future to prevent this from happening?

Try taking the battery out, this happened to me a few weeks ago and removing the battery solved the problem.

When you did this did it restore your call log back?

Nope... don't think so. Your Pearl dumped the log to make room when memory was depleted. It''l start the log anew.

Half of it came back, I don't think is was from a memory leak, because I have nothing on my pearl.

You don't need to have anything on your Pearl. Just doing stuff on it will cause memory to leak until you reset the device with a battery pull, installing/deleting an app that results in a reset, or using the SoftReset applet. For example, I can watch memory drop by simply going to the media folder and browsing pix whether they are on my SD card or in device memory. That depletion has yet to recover on its own.
YMMV.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Exclamation my poor crackberry!

I'm totally new to this forum... but I am SOOO relieved to see I am not the only one having the issue of disappearing e-mails/sms texts/and call logs. I thought my phone was defective!

So I called T-Mobile and they said they will have an upgrade soon... though it looks like Cingular has the most recent one. Does anyone know anything about this? Oh, and T-Mobile said to do a hard reset, but there were no guarantees! *sigh*

I have been pulling my battery about every 2 days, but unfortunately, this problem of the disappearing stuff has been happening EVERY DAY (and then I pull the battery when I realize what's happened). It's driving me bonkers.

I really doubt it's a memory issue... I mean, mine has been pulling this nonsense since the first week I had it! I had nothing on there at that point!

Has anyone heard any other ideas?

The software updates aren't really doing a whole lot to fix these issues, but follow this link for some things you can do to really free up some memory...

Hope this helps,
Bob
