Default Latest OS?

Please Login to Remove!

I cant get the latest OS to install on my new Curve. I have the 8310 and I have v4.5.0.55 and for some reason its not asking to update. Any ideas? I rebooted the computer and was following the guide but nothing is working.

Hi...

I know you said you followed the instructions but...

did you install 4.5 DM?
then did you run the .55 install and reboot? (Vista issue)
did you remove the vendor file?
did you remove previous versions of handheld software?

I have Motorola Phone tools that I need so I can get my phonebook off of my RAZR V3M and transfer to my BB sim card.

Yes I installed 4.5 DM.
Whats the .55?
Yes I rebooted.
Yes I removed the vendor file.

I have to get the address book first. The only thing that can read the address book from my CDMA Razr is Motorola Phone Tools. Once I have it backed up I will switch it over. But how do I get this new OS to install? I would like to update before tomorrow since I have to work all day.

Did you remove the vendor.xml file LAST? Many people delete it between installing DM and installing the OS. The vendor.xml file gets installed with the DM AND the OS so make sure it's the last thing you do before attempting to run application loader.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 10000)

Also, you are sure you downloaded the OS for the 8310 not for the 8300 or 8320 or 8330? It has to be for your exact device.

I had the same problem. Do an advanced searh including hidded files and folders for vedor file. I had another one in a hidden file. After I deleted it, I could upgrade the OS.

Ok I have the BB Desktop manager installed. Its v4.5. I have the blackberry OS downloaded and that is the latest version and for my phone. Where do I put it? Or how do I go about updating from here? Ive never had to update a phone before.

Whitedragon51-- After you have downloaded the OS, simply double click the installer *.exe file which you downloaded, it will install itself where it belongs.

Changes from what? OS 4.2?, or the latest release of 4.5?

Follow the thread here in the forum from which you downloaded the OS file, usually the users there will post what differences they notice, any bugs, etc.
