On my 9630, I can receive voice mail, but I get no notification that I have received any. No small "tape" icon on the top of the "desktop" or home screen, and nothing in visual voice mail.

T-Mobile can't fix it (ecsalated three levels). Most techs there say it has to be on their end, but after resetting everything there, it still does't work.

Any ideas?

Umm - not sure what you mean - I get the phoone call ring, and an icon that indicates a missed call. Get 2 or 3 beeps for a text message, and I understand they are similiar functions. should there be a sound for a waiting voice mail? If so, I'm not getting one.

Normally you receive an SMS message indicating a new VM. If you have a sound profile set it will also make that sound.

I'm not feeling too sucessful tonight....I have an icon that shows as "sound and alert profiles; it has no "advanced" in the drop down list (as described in your link). I can get to "PRofile management(edit, add, delete" with a few perterbations. I can edit phone, BBM's, and other applications. Don't see a sms.....There are a few setable options under the text messaging icon, but not sms. Guess botton line is, I can't fing a place to set sms tone.

Text Messaging is the same as SMS. It is that tone that is the tone for Voice Mail as well. Visual Voice Mail is something different altogether. Are you using that application?

I am getting tones when I receive text messages (even though I can find where to edit them). T-mobile says they have set up my VVM, but nothing ever shows there.

I found where to set sound for test messages: Sound and Alert Profiles, Change Sounds and Alerts, Sound for Selected Profile, Messages Notifiers, Test Messages. It's set for a sound, volume 10, count 3. play sound always, led and vibrate on.
