Those are really difficult to diagnose. What were you doing when it happened?
What apps did you install just before this event?
Does the device work at all?
Most likely you need to wipe the device with Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and reload the OS (see the yellow sticky at the top of the 9600 section). I hope you have a good backup for your data, otherwise it is gone.
I just noticed it yesterday when I was trying to do an upload for a newer version of FB.
It wouldnt let me delete a couple of FB messages from my phones, was thinking maybe an update of that would help... guess I was wrong.
Device works fine with that one exception.
This will be the 2nd time I had to do a reinstall on the OS, aggravating... and I love the phone.
The last backup I did was a couple mos ago.
If I do end up having to reinstall the OS and I just did anther backup ..... most likely that error would go back on it if I use it ??
A corrupted data base would carry over from your backup/restore and could indeed continue to give you the uncaught exception.
When I was using a BB 8800, just having groups in my address book caused uncaught exceptions. Once they started the device was unusable as they would lock it up and require a restart. Sometimes a couple restarts in a row would let me use it for an hour of so, but then it would happen again. And again. And again. Frustrating! The only thing for it was to wipe, re-install the OS (I took the opportunity to get the latest version) and to rebuild my contacts list on my computer before syncing it.
Re-adding aftermarket apps one by one after the wipe/re-install is also a good idea.
Thanks! I am kinda gun shy on doing it myself, have a friend that normally will help me out on this kinda stuff.. guess it is time to call him........ again.
I have had no luck at all with this phone as far as the glitches I keep having on it.
Husband has the same exact one and no problems at all.. so it has to be something I am doing. Just wish I knew what so I could stop it.
As rambo47 suggested the application is corrupted or the data reference is. An Index error pointing to index 18 usually indicated a record that was expected was missing. this can be due to you deleting a contact or something and when you performed a backup you copied the problem and simply replaced the problem when doing a restore.
In any event good luck. The link below will offer some of the other errors FB can see.
A little late getting back on here... phone is fixed though. Thanks for all the words of advise folks!
Not sure what happened or how, but whatever it was fixed itself when we installed a new SD card into the phone?? Guessing I somehow managed to mess up the one in there not realizing it. Errors went away once we did that. I got lucky this time! lol
And did you do an updated backup since it is working? You should. And you should do a backup frequently just in case.
Crashes happen and I can't count how many times I see users post that they can't afford to lose their data, but they haven't gotten around to doing a backup in a few months......
Just a suggestion.......
