Default My BlackBerry Messenger Just Won't work.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,
i bought a blackberry curve 8250 on saturday,
When i went on Instant messenger, i clicked on bbm, then add contacts, got a couple of friends' pins, added them, but they didn't receive any requests,
so they sent it to me, and i didn't get theirs?
So i deleted it, (I forgot how i did it)
then downloaded blackberry apps world, and downloaded it again, and it says my name at the top, says im avaliable,
but it says; contacts (0)
Blackberry groups (0)
pending (12) - I've stopped trying to add people.
So please explain?
I'm on a vodafone contract, but i bought the phone on pay as you go, and inserted my chip into the phone, - and im using wifi as my contract doesn't cover internet plans,
would that be a problem?

Thanks

Yes, you need a BlackBerry Data Plan to use BBM.

When i bought the actual phone, it came with a sim card, which already has £20 topup, and if i top up £10 a month, i get 300 texts+internet
It'd work on that sim?

No, it won't work right now. You need a BlackBerry Data Plan.
You need to call your wireless provider and subscribe to that service, if they permit that on a pre-paid SIM.

No, it needs to be a Blackberry data plan, not "generic" internet.
Call your carrier.

It's the service you need to buy from your wireless provider to use BlackBerry Messenger (and several other features of your BlackBerry.)

Yes, it's monthly.
You should speak to your wireless provider for more details. (Cost, availability, etc.)
