Default Roller Ball - Really Annoying

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a fix for the roller ball issue? I've had my tour for almost a year now and just noticed it started being an issue a few months ago but its really starting to piss me off. I love the TOUR but the ball kills it for me.

95% of the time I can't go left or right, but going up and down seems to be okay. It can take me minutes just to get to the icon to check my messages or get to my media files. Sometimes when I try to go right it ends up going left instead....WTF!!

The fix is to replace the trackball if it isn't working for you. Not sure what else you can do.
It is not a software problem.

I know Verizon was replacing them as a manufacturing defect. I would imagine Sprint would do the same. Give them a call and ask.

Could be a dirty ball.

This is kind of a cool little trick to clean your dirty ball.

I have Sprint myself, try cleaning the trackball as suggested above, if not take it to a Sprint store as I did, and one of the techs will change the ball for you. Since I have insurance I wasn't charged for it. Problem went away

Verizon told me that they do not have the parts to change just
the track ball, have to change the whole faceplate and ball.
Also, very fussy about whether they think the trackball is
bad or not. Would not fix mine yet.

I, also have been having issues with my track ball. Went to Verizon and as soon as I told the Tech that I was having trouble with my track ball, he immediately told me that Verizon was replacing the entire phone. Apparently, he sees this issue multiple times each day. The new phone will arrive w/i a couple of days.
Now I understand why they want the new 9650 out ASAP.

This has been my experience with Verizon phone support as well on this issue.

"I've got a Tour and the trackball is..."

"Can I get your shipping address?"

They've got a problem with this thing, and they know it.

I'm on my second Tour and the trackball has degraded again.

Verizon wanted $50.00 to replace my Tour, I felt that was not an option.
Some folks have had a lot better luck than I have.
Just wait and get a newer model later this year.

Did the paper trick on my friends Tour and it works a lot better now. Hopefully my new Tour doesn't suffer any of these problems but if it does I will get Verizon to cover it.

It is extremely tedious, but thr thinner you make the strip ther easier it is to get through there. Just try and take your time with it.
