Talking Disabling BES Email - On Vacation, Don't Want Email!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I've searched and searched, but I can't find this topic anywhere. I'm on vacation today and want to use my Pearl as a phone, but don't want to see the red light flashing telling me that I have a new email message! Actually I don't want the Pearl to sync any messages today at all, is there an easy way to do that? Sorry if this is a newb question, but I'm trying to truly "take the day off"!!!

TIA!

Hmmm... Well you may or may not be able to go in and disable the data connection. Depends if you are denied access to that function.

I think, in theory, that should work, but once he reenables it on Monday, won't all of the emails he received today get pushed to his BB? Although, it is rather easy to delete a bunch of emails if that does happen.

Yeah... But he needs to review those emails anyway, might miss an email like "respond to this and you get a 50% raise!"

One option might be if the email is linked with his Outlook at work, he can open and review/delete them there, THEN re-enable to data connection on the phone.

Isn't that because the emails go through the BB server? So they are lurking there waiting for you to turn on the phone. There's probably no way to stop that process.

Default Filters

Guys, just wanted to give my 2bits.
I just changed my filters. As in "if no filters apply, send email to handheld=NO".

This I can do on the handheld and can set it anywhere.

Hope this helps.

Go into your "Messages", pull open your options list and choose "Options" | "Email Settings" and then change "Send Email to Handheld = NO"

Will turn off your BES email while still letting you use your data connection.

I might suggest setting up rules to still forward e-mails under two conditions:

* From your boss
* Marked as high priority

(That's what I do)

Believe if you go to DM and then under Email settings there is a toggle for "redirect incoming messages to your device". If you uncheck that won't it stop sending your BES based emails?
