I have the Blackberry Bold 9780, and I use Yahoo for my email service.

I'm regularly creating new records in my yahoo address book - and updating them, a fair few users in my list have apostrophes ( ' ) in their names, and this seems to cause a problem when synchronising.

To begin with, I got all contacts from Yahoo and my old phone, added them to my contacts list on my laptop, then synch'd that to my phone, then synch'd that to yahoo - both one way, vida the BB desktop software.

If I try and synch 2 way between BB and Yahoo via the desktop software I am getting what are effectively duplicate entries appearing, especially those with the ' in the names - I have checked and the actual character is a plain boring apostrophe, none of these weird ones.

Anyone else had any problems like this? Any work arounds?
Any good ways of synching BB to Yahoo contacts without having to use something like outlook in the middle? If this is the only way - thats the most reliable way to do it?

I tried using Yahoo for contacts sync and had the same issues. I gave up and opened a GMail account. I still get some screwy contact changes but it's not very often.

What does happen sometimes is if I have a contact with no first or last name, only a company name, somewhere in the syncing process the company name gets duplicated as a first name. It's a corporate contact, no person involved, but somehow the entire company name becomes the first name as well. When I look up the contact I see the company name and right below it I see the name again, as if it's a person's name. It's just messy, no trouble with the contact's sorting order or anything. It just bugs me.
