Default Desktop Manager/Redirector problems with my 8830

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, here is my situation. I just switched companies, and the company let me transfer my 8830 to my name. I was previously on a BES, actually it appears they have not removed me from their BES yet, but once they remove me, i will not be on a BES anymore.

I wanted to resync my contact list as I see that something has gone wacky with my blackberry, must have been me deleting my info from my contact list on my desktop.

I downloaded the blackberry desktop manager and redirector on my computer. I connected via the USB to my 8830, but it does not seem be recognizing. when i open redirector, it does not list my pin and the status says "no pin". In desktop manager, i cannot restore or do anything. But at the same time, when i connect via the USB, the computer appears to recognize that my blackberry is connected?

Am I missing something simple here? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I seem to recall that Redirector is associated with BES, so you'd have to have a connection to your old company's intranet to be able to do anything with it.

You can go to Options>Advanced>Enterprise Activation to see if you're still on BES; if you are, it will be Enterprise Activated.

Does the normal Desktop recognize your device?

When I go there, it shows my PIN, and then says on the bottom "Actived on April 17, 2008". That's all it says.

Maybe it's not activated anymore? All I know is I am still receiving messages from my old company.

Are you trying to use the Redirector to get your email? If so, what type of email is it? Exchange.. POP...IMAP...

Ahh.. Well if you aren't on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server then your best bet is to uninstall and reinstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager for the "BlackBerry Internet Service" instead of the "Blackberry Enterprise Service or BlackBerry Redirector". That way you don't have to do anything with the Redirector.

Do you know how to configure the sync through the Synchronization icon in Desktop Manager?

I think I do.... at my previous company I had desktop manager on it, I used it to backup and restore. Not sure if it's any different if I am not on the BES.

From what I can tell, they have not removed me from the BES yet, so I'm not sure if it effects what I should be doing.
