Default Viewing JPG pictures in RTF messages sent from Outlook2003

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

We are running BES Enterprise 4.1.7 on our servers.
Seperated Attachment servers.

When we send a .jpg .bmp or anything as an attachment to a BlackBerry it is opened totally fine.
Though when someone creates an email using MSOutlook 2003 in RTF format and pastes a picture from the clipboard the message that arrives to the BlackBerry shows the text though in stead of showing the inserted image it shows a Paintbrush Icon.
When trying to open the file the BlackBerry gives the message unable to open the unsuported file.
In Outlook there are no problems opening the message and pictures and if we forward it to a webmail like hotmail/gmail the attachment that is not shown on the BlackBerry has the extension .JPG and opens fine.

Does anyone else also experience this problem and if yes does anyone know a solution for this problem?

Don't use Microsoft's RTF format for composing emails. It's proprietary to Microsoft mail clients.

You should consider using HTML format, which would be more universally accepted.

Also, make sure the BlackBerry handhelds are using OS 4.5 or higher and have HTML messaging enabled.

thanks for the quick reply.

I know that using HTML works totally fine but some of my customers are using RTF and I think I can't force them to change to HTML (can't I)

Is there a way to get around this issue when having these senders that ignore changing it and are just using RTF?

thanks in advance,
Kind regards,

Maikel
