If you listen, assuming BG didn't edit all of the information (just kidding), you will not pay $900-1,000 under any circumstance. I would say the 2-year agreement may push it to iPhone-esque pricing, but I wouldn't expect more than the $400-600 range. The current BlackBerry devices launched at $300-400 under new contracts and extensions. Unfortunately, Moore's Law has only allowed us to get better devices but really hasn't had much to do with overall pricing (over the last couple years), aside from putting more under the hood for nominal increases in price.

...blame Apple for the price hikes. They set the bar high and now we will see everyone attempt to reach it. It will eventually come down, but I think you're going to get one damn good device in the 9000, if you're inclined to wanting and buying something bigger and better. I know I'll have one on launch day

i second what Jibi says. The price wont be the $1000. That will be full retail, so those of you who cant get an upgrade might want to start counting pennies now. The 9000 will be a great device based on the specs, and to me, worth every penny. I also will have one on launch day

keep in mind we didnt even see an active unit, and it was a non-released unit. the 9000 has a faster processor than the iPhone, has GPS, WIFI, and 3G. and lets not even talk about the email/security features becaues it is a no-contest. Media player on the 9000 is nicer than previous BBs, its a step in that department. Keep in mind the primary target audience for RIM. Apple did not do anything with their device to appeal to business users from a business standpoint, they went the route of style, as they have with all their products. RIM went the other route, they have just begun to permiate the consumer market, and this phone is a great step towards that. I will predict now that RIM will again show record profits and record device sales when the 9000 does launch.

I haven't seen any specs on the 9000 that would warrant such a high price tag.

My offer for $2k was serious (as opposed to the $5k comment I'm sure) but I appreciate if there are no takers. If you can get one and are willing to part with it please PM me and we can talk price.

actually, the $5000 comment was a serious comment as well. I am not sure anyone would want to keep a prototype anyway, not for general use anyway.

weren't you permanently banned from BBF? i think i remember you were, under quite a few names. as for the $5K comment, that was a legit offer, although a couple months ago. i'm sure it still stands today.
