The camera is big issue for me, however. I can't have it and be able to have my blackberry with me everywhere I go. But, I know there will eventually be a next generation blackberry without a camera. So, I'll probably be using my 8700 until it quits and switch to an 88XX, unless that next-generation-no-camera model comes along first.
I doubt you will see any more camera-less BB being introduced. More people want them then don't. I also read about a patent RIM filed that allows the camera to be hardware disabled. Expect this to be the way of things.

at least for the short term i would assume you will still very much see cameras not built into at least one series devices. The government after all, is still the single largest customer for RIM. It wouldnt make sense to eliminate them from updates by building a camera into a device. Even though going forward it can be disabled by IT policy, I am sure the DoD and Homeland security will want no camera.

Speaking of the buttons. Anyone look carefully at the Engadget's 3rd photo? Notice that it looks like the Letter Q is pealing?! Or are the keys semi transparent? Or I'm I drooling so much that my mind is semi-transparent?

That zen type theme looks like an animated Gif for a desktop picture. Remember how the blackberry8800.com site loads with those beautiful swirling mysts? I want that!

looks dated already

icons should be smaller and floating...i hate that "shadow" backing of the icon...looks really thick too

if this is delayed to fall of 2008 and apple launches 3g iphone with oled screen and 32gb in june... this 9000 will look like a nice paper weight

Add gps and safari browser or native type opera mini 4 in lieu of the proxy based and I am sold on the 9000.

I am waiting to see what both the 9000 with 3g and iphone with 3g will have to offer. Then I will make my decision from there.

Since I just got an AT&T 8820 in October, I am not yet ready for a new blackberry so I can wait a little longer.

Does the new 9000 have a 600mhz processor? I thought I read that somewhere? That should help with browsing the internet better.

I thought the new software would be called 4.5. But in the video, we see "v4.6.0.12"...

I really like opera mini with the desktop view and zooming. I just hate the fact that it uses a proxy so there is always great lag before loading.

If the 9000 is fast enough in both processor and 3g/wi-fi speed, then I think opera should develope a blackberry native version. Then browsing would rock!!

I don't like blackberry's ghetto version of the desktop overview mode.

Bring back the thumb scroll wheel RIM!!!!!! I hate the pearl ball.

doesn't opera need to use their own proxies to format how web pages work? i was always under that impression hence why pages just load better.

Yes, opera has thier own proxies for opera mini. But with my 8820 i get processing for a bit before the page starts to load and then it takes time to actually display all of the content.

Opera has a mobile version native for symbian and windows mobile phones.

I used to have a blackjack and the native version with 3g was much faster than the mini version with the proxy.

cant really judge a matter of personal preference there ArgonNJ. saying YOU like it 1000 times better, or YOU find its functionality/feel 1000 times better is one thing. Saying that another person basically doesnt know what they are talking about when they are talking of their personal preference is a stretch.
