TMo UMTS is going to be 1700/2100. 3G sends on one and receives on the other but it will probably be referred to as just 2100. Most likely the 9000 will work with TMo's UMTS.

Yeah well I'm still waiting for OS 4.3 for my 8800 so I am not getting to excited just yet about anything!

I also think there will be a 9000 series BB that works on T-Mobile eventually. However I think AT&T will probably spend the money to get an exclusivity period first. And I doubt we will see a true "all band" 3g version. Unfortunately there will probably still be a version for AT&T 3g, a version for T-Mobile 3g, and a version for Euro 3g.

Im not so sure about this. They spent/are spending a lot to get the iphone exclusivity. I wonder if they would do the same for this BB so soon. It would be worth it to T-Mobile to get the rights to the hot new phone of '08.

That said, I still have a year left on my at&t contract so I still hope they get it. Their 3g is a lot more expansive and I dont want to have to buy an unlocked one just to use it.

AT&T will get an exclusive period on one of the 3G BlackBerry devices - whether it's the 9000 or another one to be released after it, we will have to see. I believe it's the 9000, from what I've heard though.

Also, UMTS 2100 will not necessarily be compatible between T-Mobile and AT&T and Europe. I believe their frequencies, while the 2100mhz spectrum covers all of them, vary from one range to the other. It has been said in the past that they will not be compatible without a radio that accounts for all of the ranges within the 2100mhz spectrum.

Eure 2100 is definately different from AWS 2100.

A true 3g world phone would need:

850 and 1900 (current AT&T bands, canada)
1700 and 2100 (AWS T-Mobile and AT&T)
2100 Euro and Asia

and that doesnt even include Korea or china. (I believe they both have oddball 3g networks).

Wirelessly posted (BB 8300: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/133)

That's what they said, but hey, we've heard a lot about os 4.3 coming out around new years, and we still haven't seen it. But vodafone said that they would be releasing it in May! Count on me getting it! If its 3g of course . That's a really big plus for me! Not to mention being able to text and talk and surf all at the same time w00t for 3G hehe

Yup, a slight upgrade (I think slight is spelt wrong here, no spell check).

* Remote Email lookup (even if deleted off the HH)
* Free/Busy Remote Calendar Lookup; very nice.
* Document Downloading and Editing - As a result of the integration of the 'Documents To Go(R) by DataViz(R)' software with the BlackBerry platform, users will be able to edit Microsoft(R) Office Word, PowerPoint(R) and Excel(R) files(2) directly on their BlackBerry smartphone. I'm not sure if THIS is BES implemented as a push installation or with newer OS 4.3 HH's.
* - Increased Control over GPS - Administrators will have the ability to control which applications access GPS functionality on BlackBerry smartphones.

Et cetera, Et cetera.

You can already do that with a wifi enabled BB. If you are connected via Wifi and on the phone, you can surf and use BB messenger. You can send and receive SMS (at least on GSM) while on the phone, since SMS is not carried over the normal data channel.

But I do agree that a 3G enabled BB will be very nice to have, but I am not willing to give up wifi in place of 3G. I want them both or for me Wifi > 3G.

I've never found that feature useful. I do get my emails while I'm talking on the phone but it's hard to talk and read at the same time so it's not a real useful feature but maybe on rare occasion.

yeah, great. that's what we need: a device that renders any direct human contact superflous. TT&S is the wave of the future.

My speculation - May announcement (week of WES; similar to Curve in 2007), June launch (Vodafone, AT&T, Rogers).

I'm never in a place for more than a few minutes. Wifi is useless to me! I need constant stable connections, via GPRS for example. That's why 3g is so appealing to me!

Hey even with my other 3G phones, that was a very nice thing to have. Be able to call and text and such all at the same time. Honestly there are some other 3g smart phones out there that I've tried, but since I tried BB about 9 months ago, I've never gone back to any other phone Except for ones I keep at home. I do have some phones that use bluetooth headsets better than my BB. But regardless!!! I LOVE BB and a 3G BB is exactly what would fit nicely into my life right now

I think you mean Send/Recieve Email while on a call. Most Non-3g devices can sms/text and be on a call at the same time.
