Whoever did this know absolutely nothing about what he/she is doing when making a spoof picture. Very very amateurish.

I bet u a million $ that the 9000 will be 3g or hybrid, meaning u can switch between EDGE and 3G.

Touchscreen bb will be the consumer model. But the business model will have a qwerty kb.

Now why would you bet a million when you don't have it? If it comes out within 5 years I will hold a raffle to buy someone from here one. Because I say not a chance in hell given the ONLY way to make it work is to dump current BB OS and do one from scratch. Otherwise its a sure failure. And I think they know it.

What about touch screen AND keyboard? Keyboard for input but the touchscreen for application selection, scrolling, consumer appealing fancy junk?

Um. Maybe if you assume that a touchscreen means they'll also change their OS to Windows Mobile.

It's pretty shortsighted to say that the only difference between a Blackberry and a Treo is a touchscreen.

Hahaha ... veeeeery clever, my friend.

I hear there's also going to be an infrared port so you can use it as a TV remote, too.

As long as it is a CIR port so we get 10 meters range, not the crappy PIR with 1m range. I remember when I traded my iPaq h5455 for the h5555 they silently downgraded the IR emitter, no more using my PDA as a remote ever since! :( That was also 7 or 8 years ago back when having a seperate PDA was cool... and people actually used IR!

if they would replace the trackball by the touchscreen, that would be the most stupid thing they could ever do. you will probably always need some of these annoying touchscreen pens or when you use your fingers you will constantly touch the wrong menues...
if you ask me > there is no need for a touchscreen on the

I don't foresee that they'll do that, honestly ... I mean, going from a trackwheel to a trackball is one thing, but it wouldn't seem like RIM's style to go for the touchscreen ... I don't doubt that they could have if they wanted to, at this point.

or...maybe they don't want to go there

PC Pro: News: RIM "developing touchscreen device to rival iPhone"

Does the iphone use a stylus? Do u see any iphone users complain about fingerprint screen? No!

Maybe some of yall neantherdals should stop criticizing it and thinking backward and embrace the change! Cuz we all know if u don't adapt!

if RIM comes out with a touchscreen device, heck let them. If they want to come out with a conventional flip phone, go ahead. Don't worry, don't see it as replacement for our blackberry's, but as RIM exploring a new market.

It makes sense at this point. YOur typical blackberry will always be around and improved on, nothing drastic which is going to make you want to sway away (like the 9000 series).

Now the 9000 series is just for that. If you want to give up what your using now and want different features, you goto the 9000. Keeps everyone happy, less complaints cause you got the right customers on the right device. I myself will not be getting the 9000 series, even though I feel to have the newest and latest BB only cause its "better." But if the 9000 series is going to be truely different (like iPHONE killer) then I will feel no need to get it cause its not my device, thus I won't be feeling like the 9000 is the better or upgraded model of my curve (cause its not) but more of a different device, running side by side with mine giving me more options if my needs were to change and require something "different."

It's just a new lineup, its not going to kill the current blackberries, i'm sure they'll keep updating those as well with better and newer features, and we'll prob see some new features on the 9000 series that will make it back to the 8000 series. The only problem I can really see is if the 9000 comes out with a newer media player, better browser, newer OS, or 3G, you might not see it on the 8000 series right away but later down the line. This will prob give people the urge to jump onto the new device.

I think that is where blackberry shines. Other companies always market their phone as the "BEST," or the "BETTER" phone. But it can't be, its all in the eyes (or needs) of the beholder (user). Blackberry is the device that markets itself to the people who need it, its the device that meets your needs. If its not the device for you, no hard feelings. Its just as easy to leave as it is to get in. You don't really see people who don't need a blackberry holding on to the device and hating it, if its not for them or they "hate" it, they leave it pretty quick. It makes you want to stay if its for you, and makes you want to leave quick if its not for you. Although you'll see it with other phones "I hate my DAMN PHONE! "I'm just waiting for a replacement, or upgrade," or "I don't want the to spend the money yet, i'll wait for something better."

personally i think that suretype would fix the biggest complaint that ive heard about the iphone. and any touchscreen device should work as expected as RIM has always put functionality before aesthtics
