I feel so foolish that I didn't think of this before. I never thought to ask the magic 8 ball:

So far I like the specs. I love the faster intel processor and rumored more pixels. Will not make me feel to bad to buy one. But I don't know if I am to crazy about the slider flip screen. But I would still probably buy it.

I really like what I read about OS 4.5. HTML E-Mail!!!!

the slider/flip screen are just patents. the latest information about the next blackberry is that it will have 3g. check the forums for the 9000.

I will read trough this section more and more. As I am interested in buying. I am glad to see it will have 3G (I have been told my 8830 has 3G???). But if it has a faster processor, better battery life, and HTML E-Mail. I am making a run to the bank. Even a small camera would be nice. I have not used the camera much on my old phone. But I am starting to miss it on the 8830. As I would love to snap a pic and send it......But I been caring my Canon G9 on me anyways. Sometimes the D300. Depends on the day.

this device would require you to switch carriers, seeing as how its GSM. HTML email will also require BIS/BES update. The 8830 has EVDO, which, depending on whom you talk to, is 3G. The 88xx series does not have a camera because it is the Business offering from RIM. Many businesses, both private and government, cannot allow cameras in certain areas.

Makes since. So I take it the 9000 will not hit VZW??? I thought my 8830 was both GSM and CDMA???

So I take it since. I have Unlimited Data plain. Would I have to upgrade to something different. When they have HTML E-Mail? Or would it come with an OS update?

Thanks,
Steven

Sorry if my questions seem stupid.

your 8830 does have GSM, but doesnt use the same GSM frequencies as the US, so it can only be used internationally. the 9030 (if the naming conventions stay the same) will be the CDMA version of this device (if one will exist, seeing as how CDMA has "3g" and GPS, and VZW/Sprint shun wifi from Blackberry so far, its hard to tell)

Does anyone know if RIM will consider using chipsets from Qualcomm for the pending release of LTE within the next 1.5yrs? I know its so far away but with carriers like Vodafone, Verizon and the like already committed to upgrading; that along with carriers here in Canada expecting major competition and major purchases for spectrum this May 7th; it seems not too far off.

PS WHEN DID THIS all come about. I feel so far behind.

The larger screen resolution, faster processor, increased memory, etc. are not rumored. These specifications are fact. With that said, increased battery life is not one of these so-called facts. Quite the contrary.

As for the LTE implementation, considering these new networks won't even go up in a widely usable space for another 2-3 years (~2010), I wouldn't expect anything for a while. The next major device enhancement from Verizon should likely be another hybrid device, except this one should support domestic EV-DO (and it's higher revision successors, Rev A and Rev B) and international HSDPA (and it's higher revision successor, HSUPA and HSPA). This is pure speculation, but I think when the time comes, I should be right. You may see an interim device before the end of the year, but I definitely wouldn't expect anything from RIM based on Qualcomm's new chipsets to be released until a very optimistic mid-2009 (the chipsets should be available in 3Q/4Q).

I would not say it's about being to far behind. Its more about having the latest vibrating thing in my pants. The Blackberry that is and I can't go back to a regular phone or even a Treo. The Blackberry's are Gods in the mobile world. I mean yea I can go with out my Blackberry and I do. When I go camping I just leave it at home, trips also. Blackberry is nice for school/work. So if I am getting away with from it all, I am getting away from the BB. But it just makes things easier. But to me Blackberry's are the greatest invention in mobile tech. I also like Technology and being on top of it (Stupid for the wallet). But its more of a want then a need. As I guess that would probably go for most people on here. I was find with my old Blackberry 7250. The 8830 is just so much cooler and performs better. As I would hope the 9000's will.

I am sure you all catch my drift as I am sure we are in the same boat. It's a want not a need. Something cooler then the Iphone...
