This guide is to help addicts have Chinese support on their Bolds, without waiting for an official Asian carrier update release. Cracks like me, want to have the newest OS upgrades, but doing so, might lack Chinese support.

The files are extracted from the previous .282 OS, from carrier CSL Hong Kong.

Extract the zip file, and place the Java folder into:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000-v4.6.0.292_P4.0.0.241

Or alternatively, extract each and every single .cod file, and place it into:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000-v4.6.0.292_P4.0.0.241/Java

Replace, or keep the files which require overwriting, they are the same anyway.

Place CJK.alx into the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9000-v4.6.0.292_P4.0.0.241 folder.

Do the usual upgrade process, delete Vendor.xml, and launch the loader at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

This should work for any upcoming OS updates. I'm wondering if they even work for other model OS'es.

If you're uncomfortable with my .zip file above, you can always download a previous version OS with Asian support language, and do a DIY job.
Just transfer the .cod files into the new OS dir.

As far as I know, the OS version 5.0.0.130 which I tried already had Chinese support in it.

Hi there,

I'm trying to get Thai/Japanese fonts on a device which doesn't have the East Asian OS. When I try to use App Loader for this through the desktop manager it doens't show me the Thai/Japanese options. When I use Loader.exe it shows them to me but seem to be forcing an install of the East Asian OS as well. Any way around this?
