Default Latest OS: 9630 5.0.0.801/5.0.0.484 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.801 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.801
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.484
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.214
* File name: 9630AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel801_PL4.2.0.214_A5.0.0.484_Sp rint_L.P.exe
* File size: 101.48MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9630:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Excellent. Now I can removed that blasted, useless voice activated dialing crap.

I was hoping that when I jacked in that it would automatically upgrade. Such a PITA when it won't.

One thing that bothered me in .419 was in my SMS & MMS, each individual message had the persons callback number listed. Does this get rid of that?

once you have double clicked the loader.exe icon in the c:\program files\common files\research in motion\Apploader folder (after deleting the vendor.xml file !!!!!!!

just sit back and it will load up, the loader will give you and indication of how far along the process is and any prompts that you need (your phone will also give you an indication of how far along the install / initialisation is too !! dont worry if the slide bar stops and appears to stick when you first see the blackbery boot up it is common and can seem to take an age, sometimes 20+ mins dont think its crashed just give it time and all will be good.) if your able to log onto this website you will be able to load the os !!!!!

With this new OS, I can no longer set my left side convenience key as "keyboard lock".

I realize there's a button for that on top of the phone. However, I've had that button set that way on my BlackBerrys for the past 2.5yrs or so.

Also, the button on top toggles between lock/unlock. I'd rather it just lock the phone.

I have been doing the same thing as long as I have had a blackberry. This is actually rather upsetting. I've already dialed people by accident. I hope RIM fixes that feature allowing us the flexibility to choose convenience keys.

It sounds like you might be doing something with Desktop Manager running?

Make sure you have actually installed the new software filenamed: 9630AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel801_PL4.2.0.214_A5.0.0.484_Sp rint_L.P.exe. There are other versions on the download page that could be acquired by accident. Exit completely out of Desktop Manager. Delete the vendor.xml file from c:\program files\common files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. Plug in your phone, wait for it to be recognized, then run loader.exe.

again nothing. i checked my download, it matches the file name that you posted, i installed it as an administrator, i know its installed because in my control panel, programs lists both 4.7 and 5.0, there hasnt been a vendor.xml file since after the 1st time i deleted it this morning. i run loader.exe plug my phone in, it recognizes it, i hit next it reads the configuration, then lists all the programs on my phone. i give up. oh and i did control alt escape and it doesnt list any bberry or rim running before i click the loader

ok try this as a last effort. uninstall both the 4.7 and 5.0 from your program lists. have phone unplugged. reboot. re-installed 5.0.0.484. plug in phone, delete vendor.xml (refresh the dir to make sure its actually gone). run the loader.exe again.

i literally did STEP BY STEP what you said, and this time loader only brought up facebook as an application. oh well. i also noticed all of this fooling around has taken a toll on my tour. i no longer have my memo pad, bbm or any games (and who knows what else is missing that i just dont see). i'm going to forget the upgrade and just try to get my phone back to the way it was at 9 this morning. thanks for trying though

what i do start to finish is make sure DM is closed and not running, phone NOT connect to computer

go to the Research in motion folder in your C: drive on your somputer (normally c:\program files\common riles\ research in motion) highlight the research in motion folder and right hand click on the mouse then delete. the folder will be deleted and should no longer have the research in motion folder on your computer.

Now i go to the file named 9630AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel801_PL4.2.0.214_A5.0.0.484_Sp rint_L.P.exe that ive downloaded, double click and install it.

when it says its installed, go back to c:\program files\common files. you will now see the research in motion folder is back !!! double click into the folder, then double click the app loader folder, scroll to the bottom and delete the vendor.xml file.

plug the phone back into the computer (do not run DM) when your phone is connected to the computer (you will hear the familliar windows ding gong) , now scroll back to the top of the research in motion folder and double click the app loader icon.

follow the on screen prompts, you will now see its version 5.0.0484 (it may just say 5.0 !!!, when it asks if you want to make a backup select yes (this will backup current settings and info on your phone, when you get a list of programs and tick boxes, check all you ant re installed is ticked and stuff you dont want is un-ticked (note that BBM is often defaulted to UN-CLICKED, if you want and use bbm put a tick in the box),

press next and let it to is work.

I used to hold the mute button to unable/disable the keyboard lock. Looks like they sort of moved that to the lock button. I liked it better the old way.

Default Why did they disable stand by mode on the top right?

It's not like I ever used it but they should at least let me reassign it..
