Cool Rotate The Screen App

Please Login to Remove!

Is there ANYWAY ANYONE, can figure out how to rotate the screen so that you can use your pearl with the screen on the left and the keypad on the right or vice versa? I would love to be able to use my Pearl different than anyone, since everyone has the pearl now. And all you BB Forums gurus are the best at figuring out this kind of stuff. Any takers on figuring this one out?
Thanx in advance

How would this be useful? You wouldn't be able to type!

I think it would be cool to watch movies like that on the Pearl. And some games like Pacman since it is made for the bigger screen of other blackberrys.

I beleive he wants to use his pearl sideways to where his screen is on the left instead of on top.

It would be cool if you could have a specific them to rotate the screen(having it set to a theme for a rotated screen).
Perfect Storm:Sure you could still type just not "querty". And you can still navigate using the trackball. I guess it would be sort of "Sidekickish".

You'll probably never see this unless RIM builds it into firmware, as it will definitely require access to unpublished API features if not modification in the core code itself; rotating a screen sounds simple, but is in fact a lot of code. In the simplest manner think "when my screen rotates, the two trackball axis must be reversed."

The only phone I've owned that did this (Nokia E60) had it built right into firmware, not a bolt-on you could add after the fact. I've never come across any phone that had a 3rd party screen rotation applet made for it...

I'd think someone is an idiot if I saw them using a Pearl sideways...

I'm sorry, but.... what an idiotic statement. A sideways rotated screen (aka landscape) on a portrait device works fantastically well, and is great for viewing videos and web surfing, not to mention playing games. I've been there, done it and like it a lot.

The only reason I would want this would be for watching video. I wonder if you can encode your vids sideways at that aspect ratio?

So basically you would have everyone completely reorient their way of typing?...for what? I really don't see the gain here. Videos, okay, sure makes sense. But typing? Why would you want to? I wouldn't count on it ever happening.

There's a lot of applications for rotating videos while encoding, that's totally doable.

I don't see the benefit of a rotating screen because in landscape mode one would get about 2 cm more video viewing space, which is not much. The Pearl's display is almost a perfect square in terms of viewing space.

The better mod would be the ability to get rid of the on screen user interface, to go full screen, if you will.

But even full screen mode may not be that much a benefit since the aspect ratio would be off in terms of most videos.

Just the way I don't see it. [pun intended].
