i have a new 8100 and when i went to tuneusin.com to download ringtones i get errors saying tune not available. everytune i pick. help. how do you load ringtones

Just download them with your PC and use Media Manager in Desktop Manager 4.2 to load them to your BlackBerry. This way if it still gives you the same error, you know it's not the BB and is a problem with that site.

Save yourself some money and make your own. All my ringtones are edited MP3s I just used the blackberry software to transfer over.

via google I found out Audacity was a great free tool to trim your own mp3's so that's what I did. I ripped songs from my cd's that I wanted to use as ringtones then used Audacity to trim off the parts I wanted then I used the Media Manager option from the desktop loader to transfer them to my BlackBerry.

I'm using a sd card in mine and just for the heck of it loaded the whole song(most songs are approx. 4-5 mb) into the ringtones folder and it worked fine. Only problem with that is you use up too much memoery space doing so and its a waste because your phone only rings for approx 20 secs.

On the 8100, I've had 200meg video files, 20meg mp3s, etc. It's a matter more of how long it'll play before the call goes to voicemail.

Actually, I had a problem with ringtones saved as wav files (about 1 mb) that would play with the media application but would only play for 2 or 3 seconds as a ringtone. I re-encoded the songs as mp3's (thereby shortening them greatly to about 200kb) and they now work perfectly.
