Please Login to Remove!

Hello Blackberry community,
I am trying to install the Google Maps application on my phone but can't seem to do so. I have tried downloading the zipped file on my desktop but cannot load the application using the media manager. I'm not sure how to install it using my phone. Can you tell me how I can intall google maps on my Blackberry Curve 8300?

Open your device's web browser and point it to Google Maps. You can download it directly from there on to your Blackberry, where it will install itself. I believe the current version is 1.6.3.

Don't have the gear in front of me so I can't give you a step-by-step...but basically, you need to browse to and downlod the app FROM your BB.

Just FYI it requires a Data Plan to use it. So even if you found a way to install it would not work.

Google Maps downloads the maps in real time over the data network as needed. It is not like a GPS system that has an area preloaded. So regardless of the phone a data plan is required.

For devices that do not have GPS, the new version of Google Maps (2.x) uses cell tower triangulation to estimate your position on a map.

I just got my Curve 8300 a few days ago, and GoogleMaps was the first program I dl for it. After the installation it shows up as an icon in Applications. If you dl the new beta software, you get an incredible feature. When you press 0 the program will show you where you are on the map. It does this not with GPS, but by triangulating your cellphone signal. You can check the traffic in your vicinity, study the roadmap, or even switch to satellite view, which is GoogleEarth. This is so cool.
