Default Enabling UMA on sim free handset

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys,

Thought i'd put a little tut on here on how to enable UMA on a sim free handset.

Firstly, you need to enter engineering screen.

First step is to access to the “Help Me” menu, to do so, on the main screen of the phone hold the following keys : ALT CAPS H (at the same time)

Note: For Pearl and other Sure-type phones press and hold the ALT key (Bottom left) and type E A C E, for Storm, hold the BACK arrow, and tap the screen in the following areas: TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT

Once you got the HelpMe screen you will need to use this gadget

w**.unlockbase.com/widget/blackberry-escreen-keygen.php

Enter details exactly as you see them on your HelpMe screen and press Get My Key

Type the key into the HelpMe screen (you won't see anything that you are typing)

Now you should be in your EScreen

At the EScreen select <Mobile Network Engineering Screens>

Select <Utilities>

Select <Session Manager>

Press the BlackBerry menu button and select <UMA Options>

Press the BlackBerry menu button and select <New>

Enter the following: Display Name: T-Mobile Operator Name: T-Mobile UMA Protocol version: 1.0.3

Unselect <use default UNCS> and enter punc.t-mobileuncs.com use Port: 14001

Unselect <use default SEGW> and enter psgw.t-mobilesgws.com

Select the SEGW certificate named T-Mobile USA, inv. Engineering and Operations CA

You are all set.

Orange Settings

display name: orange uk
operator name: orange uk uma
uma protocol version 1.0.3
provisioning unc address: unc.singlephone.orange.co.uk
provisioning unc port: 14001
provisioning segw address: singlephone.orange.co.uk
SEGW Certificate: Equifax secure certificate authority (the one that has 2 geotrust universal entries after it)

I hope this guide comes in handy. I have enabled UMA on plenty of 9700's etc and it works fine.

Thank you very very much for this guide - it worked perfectly once I realised that I needed to type the letters in the code as lower case.

I've just been given a 9700 branded by and locked to O2, which I had to unlock first. I then put my orange uk sim in it and your guide has allowed me to enable UMA on it.

Thanks very much again indeed!

yah, i couldnt find tmobile setting on att phone bb 8320. but getting the escreen up was tricky. you gotta use the uptime thats showing on the help screen. without exiting the screen or changing it. make sure you use the alt key to type numbers, and dont worry to capitalize the letters. if it doesnt work, back out of the homescreen and reenter it. you will have a different uptime, and the esceen code calculator gives a different code.
now, if someone can figure out how i can edit that last setting, adding in the tmobile segw cert. or what i could use for O2, which is on at&t. i have a feelin this aint gonna happen. at&t dont got the stucture for it or something. but who knows what they dont tell us.
i punched in the escreen code on a world edition bb 8330. everyone agrees this phone has only non-USA gms capabilities. just CDMA here in usa. but i found a reference to it having all but 800mhz. found it in the esceen. there is alot in there
i also found a secret screen on a crashed bb 8220. instead of the usual JVM error and reset, it had other options. i aint got that phone no more, so cant document it.

Hi

Ive managed to do this on the 9800 sim free handset for use with UMA on orange uk. But sometimes it says that my automatic network is O2, only when i have no connection - well i cant have an O2 connection so i suppose that would be the reason.

did i do something wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your advice. Just enabled our two BBs 9780 to use UMA. Upgraded via Phones 4 U who give out unlocked phones. Orange assured me that the UMA could not be enabled.

I am trying to activate this on an AT&T (albeit unlocked) 9700 and am unable to complete this step:

Select the SEGW certificate named T-Mobile USA, inv. Engineering and Operations CA

I have a T-Mobile 9780 (also unlocked) and I have placed the T-Mobile SIM card in the 9700 but am unable to get the needed SEGW Certificate.

Is there a way I can use one of the utility programs to transfer the certificate as I've done with .cod files in the past? Has anyone found another option with an AT&T branded phone? Because the 3G frequencies are different on the networks this option would be a nice addition to using my AT&T phones with my T-Mobile SIM without being restricted to EDGE speeds.

Found it....

To get the (2) certificates to your device just copy and paste the below links into the body of an email and send it to yourself. Open the link save it to the device.

Once you have the certificates in place do a battery pull

Hi,
I've tried several times, to get your excellent and detailed TUT to work for me.

I'm using a 9520 originally on T-mobile, it is unlocked and picking up Orange very nicley.

I can get to the help me screen, without a problem, it all goes pear shaped when I type in the widget. I've tried upper and lower case and nothing happens. What am I missing?

Ideas anyone please.....
