Thanks. I'm sure there are instructions for that somewhere in this forum. I did an OTA download last time and I didn't lose my Japanese input. If I lose it this time with an OTA then I'll try this.

I went to the link and only saw the download option for BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.438 (Multilanguage). I'm thinking this is not the right one. Assistance please.

looks like ATT supports the wireless upgrade feature. Had no idea. Any issues with updating the OS wirelessly?

I would recommend doing a backup first, with DM.

Otherwise, do it. I understand it will be wireless, as well.

NOTE on VVM - If you call make sure ATT has a BOLD on your account. They had my old curve which is why the BBVV option did not show up at first.

Also make sure that if have your VM stored as a speed dial that it gets updated.

Default am confused about install

Ok, on the 25th and beyond, we can install the upgrade. But I'm confused as to the install options: OTA (from our device, options, advanced, wireless update); and then either through DM or by clicking on the loader.exe file?

There's mention here of coordinating the update with java folders. This is where I think I get lost. What's this mean? In the past when I upgraded, I simply followed the instructions at the top of the thread, and there was never anything about java folders.

I'd like to use either DM or loader.exe from my desktop so as to not risk losing my BES connection, and then having to get a new password etc to reactivate.

The thing with the java folders is that if you have bbm 5 and you want to keep it and still use loader.exe, then you have to configure the java folder.

I would recommend:

1. Do a complete back up of your device in Desktop Manager.
2. Follow the instructions doing the manual download and install with loader.exe

If you want to delete stuff like Voice Activated Dialing, extraneous themes, etc., that is where the removal of certain cod files in the Java folder comes into play. If you don't, don't worry about it.

"Manual download" meaning doing what we've done with other upgrades? The quoted text just below is from the thread for the prior upgrade.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Just use loader. I took out the preloaded music and backgrounds to have more space. Also I deleted the doc to go alx so I didn't have to reinstall the premium ed. Just use loader like you always have. Don't even have to delete the vendor.xml file.

Yes, CSO, correct, that is what I would call the "manual" process... not wireless upgrade.

Small note to all:

Once you have upgraded your OS, and had the BBVV Pov Code added to your AT&T account, be sure to call your VMail inbox and set things up including your Password. If you do not setup your VMail inbox, you will receive a Provisioning Message when you launch the VVM App on your BlackBerry.

So... if you are receiving a Provisioning Error and have the BBVV Prov Code added to your account, call your VMail.
