So your saying the BB Data Plans are now 30 dollars with a voice plain and 35 without? BES, BIS, everything included, that I already have on my 45 dollar plan?

If so, I'm going to Cingular today and get hooked up. My rep is going to love me.

Is this effective today, or this week, or another specific date?

Hmmm. The word "Personal" and the quoted target market segment imply that it's a skinnied down version of somthing bigger, maybe the current plan. So what's not in the personal plan that's in the current plan?

I understand they prefer customer's to purchase a voice plan in addition to the data plan thereby offering a discount. What about the Deaf Community?! Why should we have to pay a data-only penalty? TMO doesn't charge extra and they target the deaf with the BlackBerry and Sidekicks.

Would it be easier to add a pay-per-use voice plan and never use it and not incurr charges. Would we still get the $5 discount?

$5 isn't a lot of money, but if TMO/iwireless towers are in my area, why pay more? Loyalty? Or is it just you're better off to pay up to Cingular?

Curious how Cingular Blue (ATTW) customers will be handled? Would we need to change over with a new plan and a new BlackBerry that is not locked to ATTW? Or do I need to unlock my ATTW to keep make it work on Cingular? What happens then they become ATTW again?

I welcome a price break, but at the same time, my contract is finished and I'm able to shop around for the best deal. I'm not sure this one is it.

Steve
I don't understand your post, Steve. For you, you better stay with Tmo. You buy more, you get more discount. It is not a penalty, it is an incentive.

jdjleo,

What is the rollout date for this? When will joe customer (current-existing or soon-to-be) be able to call customer care or walk into a store or call business services and get this new price point?

Thanks in advance

I think I just made my decision on Cingular vs. T-Mobile.

The $44.95 data plan was really holding me back. This makes a huge difference.

Pengrus, here's what Steve's asking:

1) Why is there a discount only if you purchase minutes on a BlackBerry? He's not going to use the voice minutes because he is Deaf.

2) Why is there no pay-per-use option like there is on the Sidekick? I had one also and the plan included a .20/min charge which I never incurred because I didn't use the phone feature. I found this out only after having high bills because I don't use voice, as I am not Deaf. Before I got my BlackBerry, I had to change my plan to the Sidekick data-only plan which didn't have minutes on it.

3) Is the cost of the plans higher because of customer loyalty? He's saying T-Mobile's rates are much cheaper and he's considering their service as they cater to the Deaf community.

4) If he stays with Cingular (who is his current carrier from what I'm reading in his post), does he need to get a new BlackBerry and data plan (with no voice minutes)? He is on the Cingular Blue network and needs to know if he should change to Cingular Orange. Or should he shop around for another carrier since he has said his contract expires soon?

Hope this helps clear the confusion. I have a lot of Deaf friends also so I can understand his frustration and concerns when it comes to wireless communication.

See, I think its BS that they have two tier pricing for BES and BIS (Tmo) but i think Cings Unlm is high at the same time. I pay it now, so im not *****ing because of a discount i get from school, but shit, if the price dropped I'd be happy.... I just hope there isnt a 20 dollar price difference just becasue I want to use BES and not BIS.

Remember that those of you wanting folders, should not upgrade to BIS 2.0. I think you get push Yahoo but lose folders. Which is more important? If they will only drop the price with a BIS 2.0 upgrade, that will be interesting.

Wait.............

Is this going to be applied to existing customers? Are those of use currently on the unlimited plan and paying $44.99 going to see their plans automatically drop down to $29.99 or will we have to wait until our contract expires to get the new rate?

I also see they are now saying Media Net access is included. Nice.

On a side note, I went into my local Cingular store and had them remove/re-add my Blackberry unlimited feature and now I have WAP APN access. I bought a Razr for fun and can browse the Internet on it without any issues.

Let this be the one and only warning to all.

Don't turn this thread into a "T-Mobile is better than Cingular blah, blah, blah" thread.

Any posts of that nature in this thread will result in bans being issued.

Thank you and have a nice day.

When the feature rolls out at the $29.99 price thats all you have to do.

Because it seems some reps. know it's included others do not. And depending upon which feature they add you'll have WAP access or not.

FYI UNL MediaNet has always been included, im not sure why this has been a source of confusion? The only think i can think of is shady RSC's saying that to sell you a feature you dont need....it happens....
How do we know if its included by looking on our bill?

from my bill this is what i have....
