Just got a replacement 8830 as my other croaked. My old 8830 had the standard silver verizon theme, this new one has the same theme...but it has a purple hue to to it. Is it the screen or did the change the colors? If they changed the colors can i get the older one somewhere?

Wierd, I would try a battery pull.. If it still persists it might be phone. Could have some water/condensation damage.

Tried the battery pull. Think Verizon provides a refurb when it comes to warranty issues. I'd decide if it is worth sending back!!!

Good choice.

VZW does send refurbs.. but most likely your second one will be a new one.

Ran into that with my sister's phone. He first replacement was a refurb but it didn't work, battery issue after complaining again they sent a new one.

Of course it was one of those chocolate phones, not a BB.
