Has anyone with an 8130 on Verizon been able to get GPS working? I am unable to get it working on my fiance's Pearl but my Storm worked right away.

EDIT:
I forgot to add that I just upgraded her OS to the latest released version. She was at 4.3 before. I figured that was the reason (because she was using 4.3) but still no dice. Any input would be nice.

Thanks

Just Storm I am told. Did not work on my VZW 8330.

Well that's no good. I guess she'll have to upgrade to a Storm. Maybe she can wait until the Bold comes out since that's what she really wants.

Just got a 8900 yesterday. Downloaded 3.0.2 and have all the permissions set to allow and the GPS turned on.

It's showing my location as in Southern California when I'm in NY. It's saying waiting for satelite, so given I'm indoors I turned the GPS off and thought that the cell tower triangulation would take over and update my location but it's not.

Any ideas?

Default google maps - oh no

Google maps used to be solid. A fantastic app. Whats happening?
Performance , accuracy and stability may be degrading.
I've experienced a few apps which have declined recently. Could be the challenge to support a wider array of devices ( Storm ) or maybe to do everything for everyone but whatever it is it's real. I've had google maps as a default app for quite some time though now with version 3.02 it's history.
Too Bad - it was really beginning to bloat anyway.

I've had this happen as well. Are you on wifi? it's likely picking up the IP address location and not the cell triangulation. If you turn off wifi it will probably show the correct location.

Thanks John, that worked. Can't remember it being a problem with the earlier version though? (8320 4.5.0.81 and 2.3.2)

I have never had GPS until this 8900, but for the last 6 months (when I had an 8320) whenever I was on WiFi it went by IP address. I know I had several versions before 3.0.1, which was obviously before what I have now (3.0.2)

So far 3.0.2 is a couple meters more accurate with my location in my house and yard. I have only been running it for about 30 minutes though

Talking 3.0.2 is working great but it erased my favorites!

I installed Google Maps 3.0.2 onto my BB Storm, turned location on, and presto! It found my location within 4 to 8 meters.

But it wiped my favorites from when I had 1.5.4!!! Not good! But I can reenter them later, thankfully.

I had used the switch application wizard to transfer all my data from my BB 8830 to the Storm and Google Maps made it over with all favorites intact. Upgrading seemed to wipe 'em out though.

Will I use Latitude! HAH! Not even! That creeps me out too much....

Now if only a decent Facebook app would come out...

I just downloaded Google Maps 3.0.2, and will then be upgrading the OS on my Curve from 4.3 to 4.5. I have VZW.

I'll let everyone know if this works for GPS.

Well, I now have v4.5 running on the Curve, G-Maps v3.0.2, latest of each. Running with VZW. GPS enabled.

No go. G-Maps shows current location as within "900 meters", which is just done via cell tower.

I will now be buying a GPS puck and turning off the $10/month for VZNav.

Has it been confirmed that GPS only works with the Storm? If so, that's a shame.

Verizon said it will open the GPS to all Blackberrys, followed by all phones. I don't recall the time frame. Verizon has a long history of crippling features which is why I left them years ago.

Make sure that your gps settings has location turned on (instead of just E911) and that you set gmaps to allow GPS location for it to work.
