I've had my 8830 for a while and I up for an grade later this week and thinking about switching to the Curve, since I don't want to dare wait for the Thunder or want to deal with a touch screen (just my preference).

So I got a few questions about the Curve compared to the 8830.

1. I heard the 8330 does not come with.a belt strap is that true? Does it at least come with a pair of wired headsets?

2. Does it support A2DP so I play music via Bluetooth?

3. Does it suffer from the memory leak issues the 8830 has?

4. What are the main differences from 4.2.2.196 compared to 4.3 that the Curve is running? I know the Curve has the L theme, voice notes, custom playlists support, is there anything else that makes it better Operating System wise?

5. Probably the most important how do you guys/gals like your 8330 Curve? Any known problems or defects with them are they just as good as my trusty 8830 I've had?

I just made the move a few days ago from an 8830 to 8330. I'll take a shot at this.

1. No belt strap. It did come with a pair of earbuds.

2. I want to say no, but I don't know for sure.

3. The difference in memory is very noticeable to me. I was always considerably low on memory with my 8830, but I guess I haven't had the Curve long enough to make a full assessment.

4. I don't know the exactly differences, because I upgraded to 4.5 immediately after getting home with the phone, but all of the things you mentioned are positive changes in my mind. Can't think of any others, but I'm sure someone else will know more.

5. I LOVE my curve. I never really NEED a camera, but it's nice to have and this camera takes some really nice pictures (see below). Also, I love this keyboard. Although I got really fast on my 8830, I like the feel of this keyboard much more. It's much more "clicky" if that makes sense. So, I would definitely go for it if I were you. I love this phone even more than I loved my 8830.

Hmm at least I'll get some earbuds. I'll just have to make due until I get a belt strap seperately (I carry enought crap in my pockets as it is lol work and personal related.).

I'm gonna have to look into the A2DP thing, I really don't want to lost that functionality.

Yea the extra memory is going to be great, I was able to free up 22 MB's on my 8830 but it goes pretty quickly when I really start using it. I just hope the Curve doesn't suffer as much as my 8830 does but it shouldn't due to the increase in memory.

I'm probably going to mess around with 4.3 for a little before going to 4.5 I'm kind of hoping this new Curve will keep occupied until 4.5 is officially released lol.

Yea I don't need the camera myself but it will be cool to have. One of my concerns is the keyboard because I have really gotten use to the 8830 keyboard where I can type without looking, I kind of got the feel down pat. I'll probably play around with the Curve a bit more at the Verizon Wireless kiosk but I am sure I could get use it. I got use to the 8830 keyboard after all lol.

I personally like the keyboard on the Curve better. I have the Jabra bluetooth headset with A2DP and I have no problem listening to music. The Curve does come with a dual wired headset.

My Curve works great with my generic bluetooth headset. I assume it's A2DP.

I have an 8330 thru Sprint and it does support A2DP. Also I understand that you want a belt holster and though the 8330 does not come with a holster it does come with a magnetic sleeve/pouch, but that is made to be placed in your pocket or purse, whichever your preference may be.

Ok, cool so it does support A2DP, so I won't be losing any functionality by switching to the Curve just gaining.

I'll have to check out that magnetic sleeve.

Few more days and I'll have my Curve !

Thanks for all the info!

The only functionality you'll be losing is GSM support; the Curve is strictly CDMA and won't work overseas. If you travel only domestically this probably won't be an issue.

As far as an 8330, maybe. 8310s are supposed to be GSM, as that's what AT&T is.

Yea I don't travel abroad, I plan on traveling but not anytime soon. So that will be something I don't mind losing.
