Exclamation BlackBerry Messenger...SMS Minutes or BB Internet?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello -

I just called T-Mobile to find out if when using my BlackBerry Messenger whether that comes out of the data plan or my SMS bucket of minutes, and they said my SMS minutes. Is that right? Makes no sense?!?!

Anyone?

The Blackberry Messenger is data (for chatting with other BB users by PIN), the Instant Messenger on your T-Mobile device uses SMS (for yahoo, aim, msn)... hope that clears it up.

Just so you have THREE confirmations... all stated in three different ways:

BB Messenger is NOT SMS. It is only PIN messages, part of your data plan. You have other aftermarket "Instant Message" applications you can use, some use SMS and some use data. Before you try one, make sure you know what it uses.

You should not be charged for using BB Messenger ever since it's included in your data plan. The T-Mobile rep is completely wrong.

On the other hand, SMS are not included in your BB data plan and are billed out as text messages.

It makes sense if you realize that the TMO rep probably thought you were refering to the preloaded IM app and not BBM.

Nope. Most BB data plans don't cover SMS.
