I'm getting emails, bbm, data, but I cannot activate devices on my BES..I see the network message showing up in the users mailbox, shortly after it disappears so I know the email is coming through.

Two users so far I've had to send away with only the phone portion working of their new/replacement devices..

Sprint/BIS in northern NJ seems back. BerryWeather won't update the forecast and I haven't tried BBM, but email is flowing.

Alas, at 4 (eastern time) I received messages up to noon; everything since is still embargoed.

Maybe overnight. Thank goodness for webmail and a working Internet connection.

At this point, we have not throttled the other regions, but as you can imagine, with the global reach of BlackBerry, people using it to contact others around the world, there's a lot of messages coming to Europe from Asia and the Americas, and those would be backed up on the other system. It's looking like over time that backlog built, and started impacting those other systems."

The obvious solution would be to clear the backlog and restore service, but in doing so, RIM would purge any undelivered messages. Yach said that all emails will eventually be delivered, however, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about there (there was no related comment regarding BBM messages). When asked what the company would be doing to "make right" by way of its customers, Yach emphasized that his focus was only on restoring service at this point, and made no promises of restitution.

My BIS caught up around 5:30 & BES + BBM's all came thru around 6:30

4:50pm PDT. All emails and text msg/BBM are flowing once again!!!
BTW, Upgrading to a 9810 next week from the 9800! Upgraded my wife's 9800 today and the 9810 is light years ahead of the 9800. Also was able to move 3rd party app over with out any issues. Good luck to everyone with the outage issues!!!

Had latency in email delivery earlier today. Up to an hour.

However, I just noticed that my battery drain today has been the highest I can remember, and my usage was very light. I'm running Battery Watch, so I can see comparative days. Anyone else experience a drag on their battery???

This is to be expected during an outage.
Your device runs background processes to communicate with RIM's NOC.
When the NOC is down, the device keeps trying and retrying and retrying...

9.40 PM EST here. BBM down, was working up and down since yesterday, but now down again. All BIS accounts down. BES working again now.

Now wonder RIM is no longer the star of the show these days...10's if not hundreds or millions of it's subscribers with slow to no service for days on end...wow, talk about epic failure, and no, there's really no excuse for this at all.

Failure, and subsequent failure of so called back-up systems which are designed to prevent total failure isn't acceptable, not when your lifeblood depends on the 100's of millions of subscribers, where in some cases, that service is regarded to be a lifeline.

I certainly won't die due to the loss of service, but it's very inconvenient to NOT have service - and the worst part is that these service outages are becoming not only more frequent, but higher in intensity with each one, with more users being affected each time.

A little levity.... Apple's servers got hammered today and had issues with all the people downloading iOS 5. I had it fail once for my iPhone, and a friend had it fail multiple times.

That's not a service outage - it's probably just due to all the ex-bb users who flew the coup today and moved to iPHONES...LOL

In any case, I'd have expected that, but at least we and they don't have to deal with loss of service on the devices!

bell eastern quebec still down, no email since probably 8 am this morning, no bbm, no apps workings at all, even had a hspa network crash, but that not rim fault, that bell fault lol, so not a happy camper.....
